Dutch Passion GlueBerryOG & Powerplant Organic

Post by seymore_budz »

Hi All,

I'm about to run through another grow of these two beautiful strains from DP and thought I'd document it here. Let's start with some information about the setup and then I'll post some photos.
  • Tent: LightHouse LIght Clone 1
    - size: 0.7m x 0.5m x 0.9m
  • Lighting: Hydrogarden 150W CFL & cheap open shade
  • Pots: 3LTR deep orchid pots
  • Media: Plagron batmix & Gold Label Coco mixed 1:1 ratio
  • Nutrients: RO water buffered with Canna MgCa. TDS = 0.3ppm I'm also using BioSys instant tea
The clone tent is a LightHouse clone tent with a 150W CFL and a desk fan. It's not really setup to sustain plants for more than a few weeks after the rooting stages but it's all I've got. I'll be swapping out the CFL for a small, cheap LED at some point. I'm poor so I'll need to wait till payday to buy one. Recommendations are welcomed :D I'm not looking for a $800 TOTR bad boy. I've been thinking of getting a cheap Mars for the small tent.

I has some issues with the PP clones while rooting. I used peat in a plastic tray and they were slow to root. Upon inspection, it would seem that the drainage wasn't good enough and I could smell the tell tale eggy smell of anaerobic bacteria when I popped them out. Luckily they had roots so a transplant was all it took to get them back on track. It was only the PP that suffered as the GBOG were in peat pellets on a tray and they were fine. This has lead to another issue. I've noticed over the last few days that the PP clone has a little ballooning of the newer leaves. I've attributed this to over watering. I've been watering them all the same at the same times. Because the PP was a little behind, it doesn't require frequent watering like the PP so I've had to change the regime for those plants. It's seems to be working and the plant is now starting to recover a little. It wasn't that bad but it was visible. Although I know the products, these strains are new and I'm new to growing so I suppose these are amateur mistakes on my part. I should of just used peat pellets for all the clones. I was experimenting and it bit me but I like to play with things so I didn't mind TBF.

These will be going into 18ltr pots around the first weeks in October and I'm hoping to have them finished just before Christmas.

I cant comment on mars but imho the 60w quantum boards - invis sell them as do others - are very good. Speak to bulls he has used mars iirc and gmo has used the QB.

Cheers Nanook, I'll see if they reply. In the mean time, could a moderator/admin remove that image slapped in the middle of the text :D I can no longer edit the post. That timeout you have set it a little annoying :D

Good morning. Lovely start of the diary. Despite the problems plants are looking fantastic.
Depends what u want really. Both Invisible sun and Mars are good. Mars is plug and play while invisible is more like a DIY. Invisible are brighter if I compare to my old msra but again i haven't used the new ones. Good thing about the invisible is that gives you freedom of DIY and create your own style frame if you want. If it's for vegging only I'd defo get the 60w square panel as the other are too intense for young plants

I had a Mars II 400w and although I thought it was good at the time, I soon realised it wasn't all that.
It was noisy, and lasted less than 2 years (supposed to be 5)

I also had a Spyder Cob LED. That was just as noisy.

Then I had a IS light. It's the dogs bollocks. No noise. Less heat than both of the above. Dimmable. Sexy looking too.

Thanks for the heads up guys, I think I'll check out the invisible sun LED's. The only reason I looked as mars is because they're cheap. I have heard the quality is questionable. I'll let you know what I settle on.

Not yet Bulls, I'm going to rotate everything in a week or so and then I'll make my mind up. I've spoken to a couple of people I know and have had some other suggestions too. Some quite interesting. I'll keep you posted buddy. These plants are going crazy now. I've been cutting them back but they right back a few days later. I think I'm going to struggle to keep them squashed in this little tent for another 2 1/2 weeks.
