Re: First proper coco run with Don Bullioni in the driving seat!

Hey Keeno, clunge is right about the water round here, it's shite lol. I used to get issues like what you're looking at with my grows, was a little while after I flipped though. It looks to me that the plants are getting locked out of something, most likely down to the high amounts of limescale in the water. I don't want to step on anyone's toes here, but I think you need to drop the silicon & up the base nutrients. The burn doesn't look like it's from nutrients, that would normally show up on the new growth first. I assume you have ruled out any form of bug that could be causing the grief.

Another thing with coco, you shouldn't flush with plain water, that will starve the plant. If you need to flush the medium, you should do so with 1/2 strength feed.
Personally, I would mix up the feed at 1.2 EC, made up of just base nutrients A & B, make up a foliar spray consisting of 1ml of Cal/Mag & 2ml of silicon, spray just at lights off, or if you're on 24/0, change the timer for an 18/6 cycle for a week & spray at lights off. Repeat the foliar spray for a total of 2 applications over 7 days, day 1 & day 4 is good. I would also recommend a product Called OminA acids by RAW Solubles, mix a teaspoon of the powder in a half litre of water & add to the feed before the base nutrients, it stinks a bit & looks like piss when it's mixed with water, but it clings to the the Calcium in the hard water & carries it to all parts of the root system, by clinging on to the Calcium molecules , it helps to reduce the Limescale build up by taking more of the Calcium from the water.

Thanks Loki. Nobody stepping on anyones toes here and be nice to get some extra help with that.
I've asked him to drop the silicon off a while ago for that reason, to be able to add more base nutrients(canna A&B).
When've added more base nutrients to EC of 1.4(0.7 above base water) and they've started burning more aggressively.
As they been flushed already we won't flush again but increase the pH to 6.2 for few days, give them calmag foliar feed at 1ml/L.
The OmniA by Raw I've used myself at 1 tea spoon per 40l of water. It does make the water stink and with combination of Plant Magic Root stimulant is horrible! I haven't used it on my last 2 grows but my water is softer now. Another product really good for hard water is Yucca Extract from Raw again. It can be added to the feed as well and really helps flushing the excess salts. It does work really well with Omnia to be honest.

What is funny is that I had my background water same as Keenos at some point at 0.7 and never had any problems with the exo even running running it at 1.5/6.

I've never done a foliar feed with Silicon, but if you say it works I do trust you. My only question is why at lights off? Isn't the point to foliar feed while the lights are on and the plant's stomates are open?

Hey Bulls, the only reason I say at lights off is because of the intense light & water droplets that would be on the leaves. It normally takes plants around 2-4 hours to close the stomates, they also open them when humidity is high. I have tried this method on my own plants & have had good results. Yukka extract is a great wetting agent, combined with the OminA acids, would be beneficial for the plants.

I am not questioning your method for foliar feed Loki, just asking as it might be something I don't know. When I foliar feed I usually turn ballast down to 250w and increase light to maximum distance until they dry out.
I've just messaged Keeno to get some Yucca and OmniA ordered as well.
Thanks for the help buddy. You should have a Private Message by the way.

Tbh if it was me i'd up her feed and Ph6.0 for a few days and i'm sure she will improve.
Talk to Loki he has the same water as you (roughly).
If your on a water meter i wouldn't say get a RO machine, it would be cheaper getting it from a world of water or similar i think tbh. Another thing to poss track some down is ask a window cleaner where they get their water from, some may buy it local (like the place i got mine).
Gonna try the amino and yukka mate, if not ill by the ro. No point trying to set a system up here as aint gonna be here long.

They look just like my AO did under the Mars, i upped the feed and Ph and she was fine don't know if you remember that.
The Ec can't be no more than Loki's i'm sure coz i know his bg Ec is pretty high and you've seen what he throws out for fun.

As i say that just my thinking and prob what i'd do myself :).
Wasnt the AO the one you pulled 18 zips from in a 1.2 x 0.6 tent? Not bad for a armchair grower eh ;).

Oi oi the god of mischief himself, Good to see you about mate, hows life?

This water explanation could be the answer to a fair bit the last year or 2. Ive been hitting a brick wall over and over, thing was in soil it was harder not to rule out many other things. My first coco run was the GLP, you might have seen that, started in soil, transplanted to coco at 6 weeks to try sort it out. I had all the heavyweight coco lads on the case and nobody could work it out. Thing locked out if i looked at it funny . Im gonna get on the aminos. Do you know if the water has always been like this in the area? I ask coz i had no issues for years, then had a break for a year or 2, since i started up its been ball ache after ball ache, thought the ox been stalking me again, sticking bleach in my girls while sleeping. Thank you for popping in mate, as always a wealth of knowledge.

update

Anyone just wanna grow for me ffs :D. Was kinda hoping my plant killing reputation would do one with the new forum, but the canna gods are as usual pissing all over me, or in my water supply at least

Flipped 3 days ago.

Right, Ive spoken to the Bully and he has instructed me to up PH to 6.2, EC to 1.2, bang 5 liters through the bitches so thats where im at. The pictures below are from before that feed went through em (today) and ive also leveled em out a bit, ill get another vid tomorrow so you can see em as they are now. Im gonna try get my hands on the omina stuff and some yukka extract. If all else fails ill just buy some RO water.
