Re: Grumpy Toad rides again!
Day 14 from seed:
All doing well. The Cherry Paloma in the blue bucket was looking kind of blah but has perked up recently. Good thing as I almost culled it. The Gary Payton x Fish Scale is still small but being more than a week behind it's expected. I've bumped EC up to .8 and will continue to increase it slowly. I've added a layer of expanded clay to the buckets. I was starting to see some algae and that will curb it. My new AC unit is keeping things nice. I'm averaging 79-80 F with lights on. That's a good 4-5 degrees cooler than would be without. In two weeks I'll flip to 12/12 and that will run from midnight to noon. Our electric rate is .14 kwh during that time. Day rate is .34 kwh. Also the difference in ambient temps will make a big difference in how much it takes to keep things cool. (That's the plan, we will see what the universe has in mind).

Update.., I culled the puny plant, Cherry Paloma in the blue bucket. Just a vector for problems. Keeping the grow healthy.

Re: Grumpy Toad rides again!
Update - Day 21 from sprouting.
The addition of AC to my lung room is helping keep the environment in the tent/lung room stable. Lights are still at 400 watts total and the lights on temps are 78-79F and relative humidity is running 45-50%. Lights off the temp is 75F and relative humidity is 50-55%. Feeding plants every third day with 1.1 EC. Base nutrients, CalMag, Hydroguard and Great White. Using straight tap water this time. No filtering or aerating, just adjusting temperature to 68-70F. The plants all are doing well. The Runtz S1 seems to really droop an hour or so before lights out, much more than the others. But each day it pops back up after an hour or so of light.
I'm still leaning on flipping in another week. I'll also bump the lights at that time. I'm aiming for a PAR of around 600.

Re: Grumpy Toad rides again!
Weekly update from the Wabi Sabi Garden.
Started 12/12 last night. Lights are on from Midnight to Noon. It's the coolest part of the day so less need for AC and it is also, by far, the cheapest electric rate during that time. I'll have to fiddle with setting on the AC, Dehumidifier and inline fan to find the "sweet spot". Right now things are close to where I want them. Lights on: 78F and 50-55% rh. Lights off 75F and 55% rh.
I started with six plants and culled down to four. The two I got rid of just didn't look 100%. The Cherry Paloma, Georgia Pie and Frequency shift all vegged for 28 days. The Gary Payton x Fish Scale about 21 days.
Feeding every other day and getting about 10-15% runoff. Nutrients are at 1.3 EC and 6.1 ph. I will start adding Bud Candy & Big Bud to the nutrients now.
I haven't done any topping or training to these. I've removed some of the oldest fan leaves that were laying of the top of the clay balls or looked like they could go to help air circulation. My plan is to let them go "Au-natural" unless they get too tall and I will super-crop to keep out of the lights.
