Worm composting

Post by TheCloudyChef »

So I get an abundance of salad veg n fruit waste and thought I'd tray worm composting on a budget lol .

1st tray is placed in ground with a sml compost layer then veg scraps and covered in shredded paper with 2nd tray to cover .

Not brought any worms as there open trays and would just escape so using whatever nature provides. I will find a lid of some sorts to protect from the rain .

£0 spent so what will be will be Image

Made a couple of slight adjustments.
1st tray now holds bedding material ( compost and shredded paper)
2nd tray is feeding tray ( sml compost , veg and shredded paper)
3rd tray is empty for now but I've made a make shift lid on that to keep excess rain water out . Image

Nice, I now have two bins of worms. One European night crawlers and red wigglers. I have had the ENC for a few months now and they are doing very well, little babies everywhere. The rw only about a month. A friend gave me some old wood mulch that I found like 50 in and so I started there bin, found the first egg in it the other day so they must be happy 😊
