Im also of your thinking as well @Keeno im very much more a bigger fan of top feeding plants, but its not cus bottom fed systems wont grow you just as much and plenty of weed, its more cus we have more control of over things, lets say if it starts going tits up. I was once told by a good guy that plants are more prone to root diseases when bottom feeding and that you have to be on top it more. Although i cant say i had problems when i used auto-pots, but i can see why it might occasionally though if lets say we were growing in dirt, but were not.

A teaspoon of full tilt.
