You are coming up with some very useful information from your experiments seymore I'd like to thank you for sharing your results, and your logic about the ec for clones does seem possible and they do look good and healthy, thanks again for sharing good luck with your new groom build mateseymore_budz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 8:01 pmI've been experimenting elsewhere quite a lot and with clones for a while. Everything so far points to clones like full strength fertiliser over lower rates. This isn't the case for seeds and if you gave them 2.2EC then they probably wouldn't like it :).
Notice how they haven't yellowed at all while rooting? That's because of the high EC. If I root them with a lower EC, the leaves start to yellow before they root. I always just put it down to part of the rooting process, but it would seem that it's actually because they need the same strength food as the mother. But, I suppose I should add a caveat and say please don't copy any of this unless you're prepared to loose some plants. I'm experimenting with all sorts atm so my nutrient strength may sound a bit wacky, but there's method in my madness.
I've been doing a hell of a lot of research into correct NER and EC for Cannabis and it would seem that the commercial guys do things very differently than us hobby guys. They run a 2.5-3EC throughout. I hope to have some interesting results to share by the end of this year.

Re: Pinapple Skunk - Humboldt Seed Org
See, I spent a lot of years obsessed about the EC levels, but testing all these different ratios has been very enlightening. I've run mixes where the ec is at 1.8EC and the plants are showing every sign of overfertilisation as I have been taught like the leaves folding down and clawing while very dark and I've run mixes where the EC is 2EC and the plants are showing signs of Calcium deficiency. It all depends on the composition rather than the amount it would seem. My current vegative mix is coming out at around 2.2EC and the solution analysis shows that the plants are still hungry as macros decrease over time. I really need to do tissue sampling to accurately do things though as other things can cause elements to disappear like precipitation and biotic factors.2-Scoops wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 8:55 pmYes Paul eyy up man. Not with big plants they can take out you sling at them more or less within reason. I was taught feeding 1.8 in veg 2.8ec in bloom and run off was hitting 4+ most times and i grew that way for a good few years, i dont go above 1.6EC nowadays. But in all honesty ive not seen or noticed any difference feeding much lower fert strength than feeding with much higher with crops that ive done. Personally speaking i think your chucking £ down drain by feeding high EC`s nowadays when theirs no difference in end result feeding a lot less EC.
In times gone by ive seen far too many start sweating too soon as well when they see a dead necrotic leaf tip appear and chuck towel in when not even feeding heavy as such and then drop back down to lower EC`s to point of under-feeding when its really not called for. Slight change and a bit rambling on again their. Cheers mukka.![]()

Re: Pinapple Skunk - Humboldt Seed Org
Hey guys,
Thought I'd come back and share a picture if these babies after spending a little over a week being fed with the high EC recipe. There is some very slight marks on the leaves that grew from the meristem while they were rooting, but they're happy and loving life.
Par is a little low as I'm in the middle of all sorts atm. But, no horrible burnt leaves, clawing or signs of overfeeding.
I'm still working on ratios etc but not on this cultivar now. I'll bin the one in the rockwool and keep the other potted up in coco for a while. Not sure when I'll be back to update this diary as I'm about to redesign the growroom. I will be back with an update when things progress once again. Don't worry, this stinky girl is going to have her day.

Re: Pinapple Skunk - Humboldt Seed Org
Hello GR420,
Just a quick update, this mother is going to her forever home tonight. I'm donating it to a pal to flower. She's too big and getting a little stressed in the little tent and I'm behind schedule due to a delay on a shipment of equipment. I've got another 20 clones in the propagator rooting and hoping to be growing them out in the next couple of weeks.
They're going in a slightly larger setup elsewhere but, I have been given permission to document the grow for you guys and girls.
I've moved over to the Masterblend lettuce dry fertiliser now. I've had some teething troubles with a small Calcium deficiency creeping in when running Ca around ~130ppm. Probably a combination of having no extraction fan in that little tent and the size of the plant. Solved by upping the Ca to ~160ppm
