Pinapple Skunk - Humboldt Seed Org

Post by seymore_budz »

Hello gromies,

I've just kicked this one off and thought I'd document the grow as Humboldt Seed Org always seem to be fire 🔥

Pinapple skunk I'm going old school with this little Big Bud x Skunk hybrid.

According to the breeder, she's a indica leaning medium sized plant with thick, stinky buds. We'll, let's hope they telling the truth.

This diary may be a little slow at first as I've got to keep this one back for around 8 weeks while I wait for the flowering room to become vacant. For that reason, I've decided to grow the seeding out in coco as Perlite/Vermiculite really needs a dripper if you go much bigger than a foot tall. I water twice daily with just a small plant currently. I just bought a compressed brick of coir from Amazon, then soaked it in some deionised water loaded with calcium nitrate and potassium hydroxide with a PH of 6.2. The coir was a little dirty, but 5 litres later and the PH of the coco was a steady 6.2PH and the water was clear. Finally, I added 10% Perlite. Hopefully I got all the shit out of the coir.

For nutrients I'll be using my own schedule derived from my recent efforts to understand optimal ratios for cannabis based on the several studies published by universities. I'll publish all the figures elsewhere once I'm happy. I'll probably spend at least six months testing before I suggest anyone uses the same. I'm hoping by the end, I can offer a recipe that is optimal for cannabis that people can adopt that's a little more friendly on the environment and steers plants into producing the most secondary metabolites. It won't be organic, but it will be as accurate as you're going to get, backed by real research and easy to follow and without any PK. (Spoiler, CalMag is required )

The seed was germinated in a 3" rockwool cube filled with Perlite. Why you ask?... Because that's what I had to hand  It worked well. She was out of the media after three days. Since then I've placed her on top of the coco. I'll fill the void with pebbles when I can be arsed to go to the growshop.

PH is 6.2, EC is 0.7. The first stage of my regime starts fairly low for seeds. This will be my first coco run starting seeds using this method, so I may need to up the calcium a little if I start to see any issues. At full strength, there is 140ppm of Ca in solution, so I reckon I'll be fine. We will see though. This programme I'm calling a "run-to-waste" mix as I will use the same for Perlite/Vermiculite if I'm run-to-waste. I run recirculating a little lower as the system recirculates :)

She's in my 2nd smallest compartment and lit with 2 x t5 florescent tubes. Can't get these anymore so I'll replace them with LED once they burn out. The PPFD is 105umol/m2/s measured with my PPFD meter.

She seems happy so far. Only put her in the coco this evening.

Hello GR420,

A little update on this grow. I had a little teething troubles. I'm going to hedge my bets and say it was the substrate that caused the issue. I noticed some damage about a week ago a couple of days after placing within the coco. I watered her in the same day and noticed the run-off looked like my piss after a weekend long Jeger session. Flushed her out until the run-off was clear and continued as normal. Things seem to have picked up now. I'll continue to monitor. See the image below highlighting the damage.

Image

EC is @1.7EC and PH is 5.8. She is getting a little silicon and nitrozyme.

This little plant stinks! And of really nice Dutch skunk like I used to score in the 90s. I really can't wait to see what she finishes like :) I can't believe how much she stink already. I had to double check it wasn't my fingers that stunk

She seems happy so far. I'll update this diary in a week or so.

Just some dehydrated stuff from Amazon. I did flush it through, but maybe not as much as I should as it said it was ready to use.

Here's a link. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It did fluff up nicely, but it's pretty dirty.

Welcome along @WshYu. I'm looking forward to this one. Not much going on atm. She's still in the propagation tent atm. Need to move things along, but I've not had time to carry out repairs and rotate everything. Seems happy enough though.

Hello Gr420,

Another week and everything seems to be going OK apart from I dropped her on the floor and squashed her :) Couldn't believe it! Picked her up, put the stones back in the pot and prayed to the Canna gods and she survived.

She's a bit slow as she's still under those t5 lamps. I can only get around 230ppfd out of them so it's time to move things on, but I've not had the time to make those repairs to the extraction yet. Work for me gets stressful around this time of year
