So what do you think about this?

EDIT: I showed this to my friend who is a long time gray market grower and he said: "Kill it!". So, it's gone.

Day 15 of flower

I won't go over what I've already posted this week. There are two main changes from last update. The Strawberry Gelatti has show intra-sex traits (male flowers) so it went into the green yard waste bin last night. I looked really carefully and couldn't find any that had opened. So i turned off my fans and made room to get it out of the tent. I sprayed the plant down with water and shit canned it.

The other change is that I increased the wattage on my lights. I increased from 300 watts to 410 watts total. Average lights on temp in the tent is now 81 instead of 80.

So, keep on truckin'!

Peace,

Toad

If you do decide to add silicon to a grow in the future, I highly recommend the newer, nano-silicic acid over potassium silicate for several reasons. It's more available to the plants, it doesn't affect PH at all and even though you pay a little more, the application rate if tiny! Normally between 0.1-0.2ml/L. Some brands I've used and still use are Buddah's tree solar power green and Atami Silic Boost. The Atami stuff is more expensive, but double the concentration.

Good luck bud!
Plants are doing fine and the stalks have stiffened somewhat so, cool. I've using Advanced Nutrients Rhino Skin https://www.advancednutrients.com/products/rhino-skin/ as part of my nutrient mix. It is potassium silicate so I'm wondering about the effectiveness. I should note that I was only using it at 1/4 recommended dose figuring a little was okay. I'm done using for this grow but have an almost full container left, that I just purchased. Looking at the cost vs. return is it worth dumping and going to the silicic acid?

And, I don't see your referenced products for sale in USA. I'm thinking the Mammoth Silica supplement https://mammothcomp.wpengine.com/produc ... th-silica/ falls into the same category.

Bottom line is that I have time to think about it so thanks for opening my eyes to the differences. More stuff to keep me going down the rabbit hole. LOL

Potassium silicate works 100% and the effectiveness is well documented. You just have to worry about the effects it has on PH and its less available than nano-silicic particles. If you have Rhino Skin then use it up :) you may have to adjust the PH a little more. Other than that, it will have the same effect.

IMHO, silicon is a necessity and not a nicety for all my hydroponics grows. Much more important than things like Bud Candy or Big Bud. I honestly believe lack silicon is the reason why many hydroponics growers have problems with bud rot. Of course the increased water transpiration and increased density to the canopy creates a favorable environment for pathogens, without silicon, cell walls are weaker; which in turn, makes it easier for conidium to root into tissue and spread. It's much more complex than just that, silicon also activate the plants defenses in other ways too.

I do love me some silicon :)

Update: Day 18 of flower (Stupid Toad mistake #42)

The Lemon Jeffery has been growing very fast (stretching). Yesterday it was within an inch (25.4mm) of the lights. I thought about it and came up with three options. A) do nothing, B) cut some off the top, C) supercrop the two tallest branches. I chose option C. I crushed the stalks between my finger and thumb until they laid over. I cut a piece of bamboo and used some gardening ties to attach the two branches and hold them horizontal. Time will tell but I'm thinking this has a good chance of success.

Day 22 of flower - update

Nutrients and tent environment are all pretty much the same. I've lowered humidity to around 50%. The Lemon Jeffry that I supercropped the two main tops, is doing fine. Couple photos below. I've been pulling fan leaves and some smaller branches and growth as I go day by day. I'm happy with were the progress is. All of the plants have plenty of airflow in and around them as well as good light penetration.
