Self help / motivational thread
I’m not actually starting this thread, well the topic yes, but more asking for it, I’ve wrote it a few times and need to just post it, and not for sympathy either, I’ve been low lately, hit a mental block and And as much as things like even if it helps some normal folk get up and get to the gym if everything else is ok or whatever needs some motivation then post away! Please.
Peace & Tranquility!

Re: Self help / motivational thread
will heres my thoughts that help me as i do live with deppression and ptsd
the way i think of deppresion is its not who i am ,, its just a cloud that comes and goes , sometimes it sticks around longer then id like but is not who i am , that cloud will always pass and the sun will come out again

We can get swept away by our thoughts,,or learn to step back and see them with clarity.
Easy to forget its a choice

Re: Self help / motivational thread
I also have depression, like wiz says it seems to come and go.
A huge help for me is setting daily goals, no matter what it may be. And also trying to only surround myself with positive people, which can be hard to do sometimes at work and other places.
I'm an avid gym goer and have been slacking the past month or so, so I know how you feel man. You need to find your "why", meaning your reason to accomplish something you set as a goal

I too suffer with depression and anxiety. Smoking weed keeps me out of the really dark places. Other than that, I'm on my own on such things.

Re: Self help / motivational thread
Nothing more messed up than a head, mental shit is soul destroying and you don't even know its there until it's on top.
As Viz says little steps. Don't get overwhelmed with long list and unachievable goals, do what you can the best you can.
I went through some shit a while back, one of the things that really helped was what they called "positive thinking". The idea is not to kick yourself every 5 mins for not doing stuff if you get me.
Example would be, you need to get out and cut the grass, if you didn't manage it that day don't go to bed thinking "Im a lazy shit" "I couldn't even cut the grass", instead go to bed thinking "I didn't do that coz I just wasn't up to it" or "I didn't because I choose to do something else" ect.
One thing I've learnt over the years mate is tomorrow will arrive no matter what state you get yourself in the night before, depression, anxiety, mental health, if its there it's gonna be tomorrow to, but letting it destroy your nights only gonna make the coming morning all the more difficult.
Treat everything in life as a battle brother, you may be ginger and therefore genetically inferior to normal folk but one thing I know about you is you a strong mo fo. Whatever this is you can beat.

Re: Self help / motivational thread
This is exactly what my therapist told me . From experience and having a truly screwed up head and massive amounts of negativity. This and the love of my good lady turned my life around . Small steps forward but always forward, never regretting mistakes but accept them as what they are a mistake that we all makeViz wrote:Set goals. Not mammoth ones that are unrealistic - but small daily goals that can be achieved.
Each time you complete one, pat yourself on the back. Reward yourself for achieving your goals, don't beat yourself up for not having reached a target.
Once each day has passed, it is gone. Wipe the slate and start again. Set another target, another goal.
Choose rewards that you like.
What this does is build habits. You start getting used to achieving stuff that you have determined for yourself. Not stuff that others have told you to do. And once you have the habit it sticks with you.

Re: Self help / motivational thread
similar place myself tbh, on and off over the years mainly due to life stress and alcohol.
Ive had a lot of help from people on here and if I can repay the favour I will, its like a dark blanket over your brain for the most part and tbh, the doctors dont want to know.
Bikes help.

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
