Re: a Little bit of Sherbet
Let the leaves reach the edge of the pots and a little bit more. By thar time, roots should have spread to the bottom. Turn the system on and don't hand water from there on so the roots go looking for water towards the bottom

Re: a Little bit of Sherbet
@wutang i was thinking of half filling it for the first go which is like 23ltrs i think. and if that goes well i'll fill it up as theres a fair amount of veg time left yet so would easily get through a full tank or two.

Re: a Little bit of Sherbet
Yeah I did 20l to start with..it lasts around 5 to 6 days depending on your temps etc. But it was a good balance throughout my grow incase I needed to switch out nutrients so in theory wasting less water.
Keep an eye on ph in the res as well. I didn't need to adjust and always set around 5.8/6. The max it ever swung was upto 6.5
In winter I put the res inside the tent so it keeps it warm..in summer outside in the shed.
Raise the pot off the ground using some foam so the base doesn't get cold.

Re: a Little bit of Sherbet
ive got the res about 5 inch off the floor on some paint tins lol. inside the tent isnt an option for winter sadly, so will think about how im going to tackle that over the summer. i do have some insulation that im thinking of using but havent come up with a full plan just yet.
I will keep an eye on the PH, but thanks for the reminder!

Looking good hmr.
Perhaps a βbarrel insulation jacketβ would be good for your res, they come in all different shapes and sizes
