I ran 20l of plain water..no pH through the pot...MAN the first bucket of run off stank!!!
I would say if it stinks like bad farts or bad eggs that's root rot and more so what with system your using, feeding from bottom is always gonna carry a possible risk of root rot , not that ive seen it happen in this system cus they're not really sat in your mix long enough, but its more dodgy bottom feeding by hand letting them sit in your mix too long.

But yes what with looking at your plants now they do tend to yellow up with root rot. I dont know how long is left on this but it might be an idea removing it from your system and feeding through top for a while with some silver bullet or h202 in your mix that you give it or at least adding add some silver bullet in to your current tank if your can`t be bothered with top feeding thing, just to use it as a preventative measure for rest of plants too as well, cus that rot can spread if any of it has got into rest of system although it would be pretty hard for that to happen in this system. You`ll need to clean the system out or at least the part used by this plant good and proper obviously.

So id prolly look at buying some silver bullet to use in that set up from now personally speaking and just used as a preventative, I've not used it but i read silver bullet is a better product that h202. That's if it is root rot, but it seems to point that way now what with how plant looks and your stinky roots as and also not being able to pin it down with what was up with plant. Air-stones or flooming your mix in your tank should help keep ferts oxygenated longer. Try to keep temps in your tank around 20c`ish higher temps less oxygen in your mix, silver bullet should help with this too

Cheers sir. Rotten eggs bad farts yes.

I think next run I'll layer more pebbles at bottom. It maybe that i didn't put enough so the roots sat too long in water etc.

I'm hoping the sherbet will be good as she's drinking a lot more...so hopefully the feed doesn't sit there too long.

At least I have some ideas now.

I'm going to wack my circulator in tank...to come on every 3 hours as I'm seeing a lot of salt sit at bottom when emptying res. I was advised I didn't need it by the shop...but it makes sense to keep the feed dissolved?

Big thanks to you and Cave for your help.

Yes put clayballs/pebbles so they are level or just slightly above with height of water that fills the tray.

Yes do that, id still buy some silver bullet and use as a precaution for what it costs. Flooming your ferts in tank maybe a better option but both ways are fine and better than none, basically just stick a tube in your tank down low coming off the air pump. Don't worry so much about ph cus they can cause it to fluctuate (great word lol) just go by how plants are looking so long as ph isnt way out you'll be good

Hey bud what do you mean by flooming?

I'll buy some silver bullet

I don't have any air pumps/dome kit so I'd have to buy that. But I do have a siccee nano circulator that I can connect to a timer to come on every 3 or 4 hours to keep solution mixed.

I literally have o scoop a teaspoon full of salts everytime I change the res. Do you think that could cause issues? I.e. the plants not receiving feed as the nutrients are the salt lol I dunno man. I'm not good with this science stuff.

Temps are 19c in res daily as its inside the tent.

Just remove airstone from your tubing and stick that right in your tank to keep water moving, from what i read about it, tis said its better for oxygenating your water, maybe i misspelt the word, fluming/flooming/flume/whatever. Their must be some YouTube vids how too, I've never done it like and i don't use an air-stone either since pump broke, im tight git and all that.

Use that instead then if that's what it for, theirs nowt down for spending cash when theirs no need, fuck that for a game of soldiers. Iff PH moves around a bit dont sweat it too much, if plant is ok and PH is between 5.5 and 6.5 you'll be sound. I mean in all honesty they prolly not needed if your adding the silver bullet, but whatever helps that's you`ve already got then why not, the more oxygenated solution is, well that's gonna be better for plant and roots all day long

You sir are a legend. I don't have airpumps or stones so sod that for now.

Silver bullet ordered..should be here in a couple of days.

Hoping that 20l flush took most of the shit out.

The siccee circulator was recommended when I purchased NFT to keep water moving due to ph swing, but I was too naive to work that system then as I had a lack of knowledge. For a small unit it keeps the water diluted well so I'll give that a go.

Thanks @2-Scoops you don't know how much this support means to me. Takes the guess work out. Next time I think if you're my mentor it would be easier.. as that's what you've done anyway:) haha

I don`t know what a siccee is these days cus i don`t work anymore Wu, its just one big sickeee for me  But if you have summink like a small nft typo pump and are interested in keeping water moving and proper aeriated look at building a venturi aerator, basically its just a piece of plastic tube stuck on or connected to pump with an end cap on that's got lots of small holes drilled in end of stopper.://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=di ... ri+aerator

Don't sweat if not you can always come back to the idea if shit persists in future grows. Its first grow I've seen and heard of root rot occurring in this system and its been around for time now. 8-)
