Re: dukes drobes
hi capt and all well i have had to rethink my drobes re the lighting as the leds even on full do not give adequate heat and the climate control has to switch on the heaters 24/7 for the last week or so and i feel this is just a step to far cost wise and without the benefit of extra light.Captain Beefheart wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 10:21 pmgood man i thought ewed have things covered... go steady.![]()
so i have so far fitted both the 250w led and a 250w hps in the smaller drobe over the 2x bruce banners which have been in flower a few weeks and sad and leggy due to the cold,of course i shant find out till later tonight if it works and may need to use seperate timers and alternate from led to hps in order to control temps but we shall see!
also planning to do similar in the bigger drobe but that needs some careful juggling and pursuade my tina to swap leds her 120w she has for houseplants for my big qb from bigger drobe, then i should fit that and the 250w hps in there, boy this lark keeps me working, and thinking
or i could steal the 120w qb from the tiny veg cab and refit the cfls,,,,,,
peace all.

Re: dukes drobes
hi all well after much jiggery pokery and some swearing i managed to squeeze an hps and the leds in both flower drobes as you can see in the pics the plants have stressed due to the cold and abnormal stretch is the result.
i do not like led in winter and think maybe the combo will work a bit better atleast when lights are on its warm enough for the climate control not to switch the heaters on and being as both leds are dimmable i can juggle temps a little if it proves too warm using both.
without further adoe heres a few pics sort of before and after light changes and showing stats improved, electric cost not so much!
but needs must as in drobes stretch can be a real problem, cheers all

happy growing to all, hope it gets warmer soon!!!

Yes i like the hps & led combo as well duke, im running a 100watter led full spec alongside a red spec 250watt hps myself atmo, i think the combo does a grand job myself. Plants are coming on nicely mate.

hi momma there better than 2 weeks ago, green not yellow!cheersMomma bear wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 6:09 pmLooking beautiful in your groom all the ladies look great![]()
hi jimmi so far the led/hps combo seems to be working ok and def improved temps and rh a lot,got a heady 29c at one point last night.
a damn site warmer than the rest of the house!
ended up using my 115w 6 bulb diy cfl lamp again in veg cab and with extraction low and heater on the stat it is just 25c perfect for slow growth of the motherplant double strawberry and the clones.
i reckon my electric will force earlier harvests so am pushing them harder than normal and higher ec 1.5ec so above my normal 1.2ec and so far they loving it and not burnt yet, except the stupid cold stretched bruce banner 3 who hit the light and singed its bits!
bagged all the harvest from the tangerine dream and it filled a big brown paper sack from deliveroo and theres a couple of oz for oil as well, tangerine dream no1 reliable barneys strain. this is a different chemotype from my original and much more afghani traits resin production is heavy that thick greasy type smells like mineral oil, wicked strong too!
take care all and stay warm and stoned.

Re: dukes drobes
Yes duke I've started using a higher ec again and even higher early in bloom im talking like 2.0 - 2.2ec atmo and once the tank is used i may even push it higher to a crazy high ec that i used to run my flowering grows at years back and im in more or less a soft water area so its all ferts barring 0.2. I've never been one to sweat it over the old adage "oh my leaf tips are burnt my plants are cooking" so long as plants look tip top and just a few dead tips on leaves its really no biggi and nothing to sweat over and never has been really. Cheers mate

Re: dukes drobes
hi jimmi and all well today i got this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175119888246 ... 4307051859 it seems to work ok and im hoping it will smooth the temps a bit better than my cheapo dimmer type does as if you turn it down far it got noisy, this one it stays silent right to the lowest setting and i tested it just by moving it nearer to the hps and you hear it speed up quick, slows down nice and gradual and quiet.2-Scoops wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 2:52 pmYes duke I've started using a higher ec again and even higher early in bloom im talking like 2.0 - 2.2ec atmo and once the tank is used i may even push it higher to a crazy high ec that i used to run my flowering grows at years back and im in more or less a soft water area so its all ferts barring 0.2. Re: dukes drobes
Yes its one I've looked at and works on same principle as the smscom one that looks similar so shouldn't be noisy if running smaller extraction fans, you will have to let me know how it goes cus i was close to buying a smscom type other day but they easily fuck up if knocked was only thing put me off, i was told chips a bit delicate to bumps in smscom when i emailed them, which i suppose most things are really tbh. But twas only thing holding me back hitting the buy button. But i also got to looking at those newer ac infinity smart inline extraction fans for one of my next purchases.
