Re: Smileys Angels triple testers: Rascelberry, Jack Sk, Jack of Diamonds
We are now at day 78 of flower, i chopped the last lone jack sk x jack sk yesterday at 11 full weeks.
The first 2 Jack of Diamonds dried in 7 days after the wet trim with humidity locked up in the freeze but temps also low terps are in good shape still and stunk throughout the dry which is a very good sign. They were chopped on day 67 i think.
I have test pressed the first 2 Jack of Diamonds to get a flavour of the kind of rosins they produce. You just never know what will come out rosin-wise or how much, the only way to know whether some flower will press well is to press it.
Pheno 1 produced a more oily rosin at a return of 20% (1g on the nose from 5g pressed)

bottle tech for my small plates and shitty press..

and 18% return on pheno 2 which delivered a more batter-like instant hash-set type, the terps also show in the sauciness:

Havent actually tried it yet, straight into the fridge for when i'm ready and ive cleaned me old puffco .. i'm not into dabs heavy as i like to keep my tolerance around flower/ hash level ... dab report to follow...
The other Jack of Diamonds were chopped on day 70 along with 3 of the jack skellington x jack skellington and will be dry soon. All were wet trimmed so i have some fresh frozen material to get some ice-o-lator hash made while we have the freezing weather still. I got the washing machine out the loft yesterday to clean the dust off and get prepped up.
Heres a couple shots of the dried jack D and the last Jack Sk being trimmed up
Jack of D dry :

Last Jack Skell x jack Sk wet trim:

prob enough for one post... will try get some hash made today and then finish up the diary with some numbers and smoke reports .. gonna take a minute though to work through all 11 phenos / 3 strains, very enjoyable minutes though :)
hope you found something of interest to help with your smiley testers, thanks for stoppin by
happy gardening all, keep em warm

Re: Smileys Angels triple testers: Rascelberry, Jack Sk, Jack of Diamonds
thank you @Keeno much appreciated and apologies this is so late... been a lotta fun smoking smileys gear and xmas etc was what it was - always prefer being this side of it and looking forward to longer days ahead...
So here is a review of the the grow by numbers and some thoughts on the smokes of Rascalberry, Jack of Diamonds and the Jack Skellington x Jack Skellington...
first up a quick review of the grow:
Germination was 100% from 7 beans from each cultivar (21/21 total)
Plants had 20 days veg from gernination, 3" pots to germ then 2L then 10L felt final pots.
After sexing ended with 11 plants flowered under a 240w array with 1 being under an adjacent 400w hps.
1 rascalberry (1 had slight inter-sex traits - monecious plant not a hermaphrodite btw); 6 Jack of Diamonds and 4 Jack Skellington.
Flowering was between 9 and 10 weeks with most coming down at week 10 (day 70) and one jack Sk taking to day 77.
Soil grown with some inputs from GHO and some homemade knf. 1 feed of biobizz grow and bloom prior to stretch.
And so to the yields ...
JD1 28g
JD2 35g
JD3 46g
JD4 37g
JD5 41g
JD6 38g
Rascal 39g
J Sk1 36g
J Sk2 44g
J Sk3 35g
J Sk4 41g
that is a total dry weight of 420g (15oz) on the nose lol... in a space of approx 11 square feet and 280w (the 240w array plus 1/10 of the 400w) in a total of 97 days grow time (could've easily have been 90 days).
I also have 1/2 oz of fresh frozen ice water hash from the trim.
I tried to work out elec costs for this grow, Kw/hours were calculated at the rae of 35p / kw/hr. Not sure if this is my current rate but it was when the grow began lol...
I wont put all calculations but came out with a total of £133 for electricity. Other inputs (home re-amended soil and nutrition) i guestimate at around £60.
So around 15.5oz of very pleasing cannabis from seed to crop in under 100 days at a cost of £190 odd and a space of 11sq foot.
not 100% confident on the elec cost numbers, they seem too low, but i did check and double check the calculations. I also included 40-50w for fans constant use.
Yield per time per space is best way to measure efficiency of growing crop. Here we are at nearly 1.5oz/square foot of canopy every 10weeks of flower time approx. very happy with this. The gram per watt only measures the cost of your grow. Here it is up to 1.5g/w which matches or betters most grows where i vegged longer (usually 1.3 / 1.4 ish is what i typically get under the arrays).
I did need more space for last week of veg and first couple weeks of flower until plants sexed due to being regs - an extra 80 x 80cm tent was used for approx 3 weeks while plants were being sexed. If using fem seed the extra space wont be needed.
Very happy with the efficiency of the grow, especially given they were regs. moving froward with current elec costs regs will be hard to manage but this is the technique / style of grow i will use for future regs as well as pheno hunts.
And so onto the flavours and highs....
Overall there were slight differences across the phenos but in general the following applies:
Jack of Diamonds - the one i didnt request but am now so glad it was chucked in by keeno or whoever sends the seeds out - thank you !!
Really high quality flower, overall profile sweet and floral, kinda like an skunky OG but notso gassy, most have bits of limonene come through, and classic og terps, myrcene and some pineyness , little spice on the back end. Very good strength levels and a typical hybrid type high that starts with euphoria and ends on the couch if you smoke alot.
Rascalberry - fruit/ sweet profile with a bit of funk. Smells like blackcurrant chewits, tastes like raspberry/ blackberry fruitella chews. Not quite as strong as the JD but great fruity flavours and still packs a punch.
Jack Skellington x Jack Skellington - Floral and sweet profile. This is the one i was most interested in due to potential for high thcv levels ... the high is definitely a different high than others... very clear buzz to start. Grew a bit haze like in the bud structure and had fine fingered leaves and the high is much more like a 'sativa' or equatotorial type. Hazey flavours including eucolyptol/ lemmony / spices none intensely bust combining softly into very smooth smoking experience. Not such a strong overall flavour but very smooth and clearer and lasting head high, not in the body. Not sure yet if it doesnt cause munchies yet (one reason i was interested in it) but its definitely a different kinda buzz and as such, appreciated and interested to grow some more. Ideally would like to get some properly tested.
So thats it i think for the smiley test run... Any questions / comments welcomed .. hope ive covered most things
I really enjoyed running these and can definitely recommend smileys gear if you havent yet.
Big thanks to smiley and to @GR420 for the opportunity to grow em
Happy gardening all
