I'm going to be keeping a mother plant for the first time so I'm looking for tips for keeping her healthy and ways to take the best cuts and keep her producing for a good while.
@Greenfingers Have a search for ot1 keeping bonsai mothers mate, you'll find plenty of good info. I'm not sure if it's been reposted here at all though
A terrarium is the best way to grow and keep your plants in good health. The most important factor to consider when it comes to growing and caring for mothers, is the environment in which they are grown in. A lot of mother plants find it hard to adapt to new conditions, so keeping the environment stable and free of stress is vital. The more stable the environment, the better the plant will do.

Greenfingers here ya go bach here`s 2 mums that i house have done for several years both plants are in under half litre pots of husk...fed / watered twice weekly,no fans and the lighting is a 75 watt I.S panel dimmed as low as it goes.
these 2 are about 5 month old + ive taken cutting offa them already a few times, what i do is keep these in these pots for say a year, then take fresh snips and reboot the new mum to be,a simple but effective method of a constant clone stock just like the day the seed it came from. i been doing this with these pair for years now and i see no loss of fuk all from cut to cut and so forth.
