Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
Hey everyone...or the very small amount of people who ever even actually read this dairy haha. Sometimes I really wonder why I bother, but really I think these dairy entries are more for myself than anyone else. I am able to put ideas down in writing and its a record of what worked and why, so not all negative I guess. This is probably my 5th and 6th dairy. Not sure if I will continue since I really get a lack of feedback or interaction on here. My growing game must be lacking.
Here I am in week 10, the little 9 pound hammer and the Critical Neville were harvested two days ago. The hammer was 10weeks old and the critical neville was 9 weeks. So now the flower tent is empty and drying tent is full.

After going through the rootballs and pots at then end I found out what was causing issues with the Alien Rock Candy. I found a bunch of what look like root aphids...the Critical Neville had them too. Surprisingly, the Crtical Neville plant made it the whole way through flower with no obvious negative effects. The plant stayed healthy and happy through out the grow despite the infestation of aphids. So I've had to pull out the heavy guns and went to town on treating the plants in the veg tent. Since I am pretty sure the infestation started there. So I took a multi layered plan of attack. 1 added mosquito coils to my nute reservoir, I added super neem oil to my nute mix, sprayed with pyrithium spray....and I added a "hot shot strip" to my veg tent which I will keep in the veg tent for a week.
We shall see how we go, but I might come back and make another post with my finished dry yield weight.

Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
For all the work you had to go through for security reasons it seems like the end result was worth it! Not too mention maybe a good workout?
What a clutch find about root aphids… the no pest strip should help in veg. There are members here who run em for a bit then ziplock em to reuse them on an intermittent basis. I know of other members who also use neem powder instead of liquid if that sounds like something useful. Just be mindful that neem isn’t the safest thing to absorb through your skin or respiratory system.
Love the multi strain grow and the nuances you eluded to.
I enjoy popping into your diary man. Cheers

Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
Cheers for the post Mafoo, I appreciate it. The end result was still good given all the issues...I have about an ounce and half left in my jars...so 5 plants harvested, even if a couple are a big raggedy, its definitely a win. More than enough to get me through the next 10 weeks, as the next plants get ready to go into the flower room at the end of the month.MafooFarms wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 3:23 amFor all the work you had to go through for security reasons it seems like the end result was worth it! Man the Neem seems like potent stuff eh, you can tell it toxic by the odur and fume. It was what I could find in a hurry. I am only going to use it for the next few waterings. Yeah I was going to do the same thing with a lip lock and the pest strip, but cheers for the tip, good to know I was thinking in the same direction. Apparently the mozzy dunks are good too, so hopefully with a four layered approach I can give those little buggers eating my plants a quick death.
Thanks for the feedback and tips man.

Making plans with a stoner is like being with a prostitute. They tell you they’re coming, but you know it’s a lie.

Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
Hey Herbalist, cheers for the feedback man & thanks for reading along. This grow had its fair share of issues, all plants got over the harvest finish line in the end, so thats something to be happy about. I learned a this one though.

Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
Aint that the truth, your only as good as your last grow too. You should man, I was really impressed with the free herbies zkittles seed I grew. I havent smoked any yet, but it has a straight up blueberry grape terp that is pretty catching on the nostrils. The buds were huge too, big heavy chunks the size of coke cans. Havent smoked her yet, the jury on effect is still out to lunch. It will be interesting to see of the bud smell translates to the smoke flavor...because that doesnt always happen, or it comes out different than it smelt in flower.

Re: Sonic Alien & Friends
Sounds delicious. Hope the smell transfers over to taste for ya. Do you start smoking as soon ad they're dry or you give them a bit of a cure first? I'm always too impatient but by the time i smoked 3 quarters of my stash the rest has cured to a decent level lol
