Nice start :-)

I reckon I could learn something from this, subbed in and taking notes.

Is thge fulvic Vitalink too?
Hey rik, welcome.
Not sure if there’s much here to learn tbh but your welcome along for the ride none the less.
This is my first time in coco so no doubt there will be all sorts of problems down the line lol.

Yeah the fulvic is also from vitalink at the moment, next time round I might try just buying fulvic acid and see how I get on, new range of nutrients to me so thought I’d stick with the labelled stuff for now, didn’t want to introduce any problems first time round using them.

Thanks for looking in
You will kill it man if you're used to hydro already.

Hopefully mate, I watched two friends have loads of issues in coco though so a little bit paranoid.
To be fair both of them would just let there pots sit in the runoff, I’d tell them time and time again but it fell on deaf ears, can’t complain though that’s where all my free gear came from.
If this grow goes well I’ll be able to say I told you so but till then I’m keeping my mouth shut.

Also another thing I’ve noticed with coco is you use the same a+b all the way through, in hydro you have one for veg one for flower, that says to me you really need to be using the other additives at different stages whereas my friends just use a+b and boost, in flower surely you cut back on a+b and start adding buddy, the way they are doing it it seems they are feeding loads of nitrogen all the way through flower, no wonder they end up with stretched out plants with loads of fluffy buds.
We shall see, it all feels new to me, new media new nutes, I’ll make my mind up after this grow but I think I see where they was going wrong

Sounds like you have things covered already man :nice:

Yes @Captain Beefheart was the 1st person I had seen using buddy and he only settles for rock solid buds :viking: lol

It is supposed to be a good line of nutes anyway.

Let’s just say I’m feeling quite confident ;-)

Yeah I used the a+b for hydro with good results, used that alongside canna supplements and worked a treat, that gave me the confidence to get the whole range.
One thing that amazed me last grow was how well the finale worked, I used finale on 3 and the fourth plant just got flushed with water, the 3 with finale used up all there nutrients and yellowed off faster than the one that just got flushed with water every day for a week, I was very surprised how quickly they finished.

These look sound Vador man. So those tray thingi-bobs what they called and are they raised off the ground enough to drain water away on their own or is it pumped out ? Cheers bud.

They are rhizopot trays and they are a lifesaver for growing in coco and maintaining runoff.
You basically feed like normal and gravity takes care of the rest, when all the water has drained down and through the pipes it reaches the final bucket or the brain as they call it, once a certain level is reached in the bucket it fires up a pump and pumps away all the water, mine is set up so it pumps into a 25L barrel but you can run it wherever you want
https://www.growell.co.uk/growing-syste ... stems.html

One critical thing is you need to be able to keep all the pipes relatively flat or if any angle then it needs to be downhill. Installation was a piece of cake but did require a couple of small holes cut at the bottom of my tent, apart from that perfect.

Can’t recommend it enough for coco if you want to get runoff, there is another system out there I’ve heard of since that uses a smaller reservoir but can’t remember the name now.
Also you can buy all the trays and connectors separate on eBay and the brain would be pretty easy to make your own, it’s basically just a fish tank pump on a float valve and timer.
Knowing what I know now I’d definitely build my own if I had to do it again, that being said it’s a quality bit of kit and I’m more than happy with it

Ahh its just same as my under a £10`ner set up really but jazzed up a wee bit more, i still empty brain pot (5ltr A&B container) by hand too, robbers they are, but i really like it yes, might even invest in 3 of those trays.

In the picture in link it seems like it wouldn`t empty with just gravity alone cus once water level gets to around height of hole in brain pot it will just stop flowing in to fill it cus of lack of gravity going that direction, if you get that, fuck my explanations are shocking

Well the pipes from the trays are a tiny little bit higher than the inlets into the brain to allow a slight build up in pressure I guess and force water into the brain more, the float valve inside the brain is on a timer too, when you activate the float nothing happens for a couple of seconds, this must be to allow the water level to rise a bit more before the pump kicks in.
When the water level drops the pump still runs for a couple of seconds after the float goes to the off position so it gets rid of some of the extra water below the float.
The idea is it’s left plugged in all the time so it just purges small amounts of water when needed, I notice it only kicks in for probably 5 seconds every time it purges.
I hand feed though, maybe with drippers and things people might get different results.
Oh yeah nearly forgot there is a one way valve that goes onto the drain pipe to stop it flowing back into the brain

I can`t see why you would but you never know. I knew a guy who swore by watering the coco numerous times daily improved his yields and another said different on an old forum i used, so i tried it a few times and no difference really. Tbh last year or so ive only water my plants every other day now in coco and get great results, in fact i got my result from my space doing this.

Summink similar but different i read about lack of irrigation for ya`s here i know you use ice water later in bloom to increase resin production and yield too, so maybe theirs a simpler way without causing too much stress like i would think ice cold water would do, so prolly a lesser yield, feck knows tbh.

Scroll down to lack or irrigation part tis a good read and says its tried and tested. https://www.alchimiaweb.com/blogen/impr ... trichomes/
