Tour of the Death Star & attack of the clones

Post by Vador »

Hello again, Welcome to another diary.

Today is my girls birthday :happy birthday:, The 5 together are Barneys Blueberry Cheese and the one on its own is Dinafem Critical+
Image

It wasn't always meant to be this way though, See I've been using up a load of old seeds and had major setbacks all the way, for this grow I germinated all the seeds you see below, Most of which are between 5-10 years old now and haven't been properly stored.
Image

From all those seeds I ended up with the critical+ and this
Image

3 of the deep cheese germinated over a week ago and they are just not growing so in the meantime invested in the blue cheese to get things moving, Less than 3 days later and we've got 5 blue cheese seedlings, Finally.
The critical and deep cheese can just do their thing for the meantime and we will see what happens with them down the line, They won't go to waste.

The plan now is to flower 4 of the cheeses and mother the 5th, Then start the cycle of cloning and ultimately I'd like to be harvesting every 10-12 weeks after that if all goes to plan. Will need to make a drying room somewhere but got a couple of old tents I'm sure I can knock something up.

Now normally I'm an avid nft grower but recently acquired a lot of free equipment of which included a great stack of coco so going all out for my first coco grow.
One thing that has put me off using coco in the past is dealing with runoff in a tent, I just couldn't bring myself to even attempt it and when my friend ignored my requests to buy nft tanks and got coco I was a little peeved.
As if by some miraculous timing I'm browsing the forum one evening and see Ghost93 is using this Rhizosystem that pumps away the runoff for you, Hat tip to you ghost you really made my life a lot easier for this, thanks man,
Image

For a groom I'm using a 3in1 tent.
Image

Mother, Cuttings and one clone will live on this shelf.
Image

While the other 3 clones will live down here under a 4ft t5 eventually.
Image

Four plants will be flowered here.
Image

Under a parabolic with a choice of 250w mh, 400w hps, 600w hps depending on what stage im at
Image

I was lucky enough to be given this 1200w dimmable dual ballast, Most probably only use 600w from it but it's nice to have options.
Image

For nutrients I'll be using the vita link range as used in this chart
Image

With filtered water cos the water round here is crap, Never bothered in the past but decided if it's not good enough for me to drink then it's not good enough for the girls :harvest:
Image

As you might have noticed in the first photo the blue cheese has rooted out of the cubes so will be potted up very soon, Rather than going into small pots again I'm tempted to put all 5 cheeses into 16L pots and straight into the flowering room under the 250w mh, get the t5 switched off for the time being, What do you all think?

:thanks: Thanks for looking in :thanks:

Here we go
Image

That's all 5 Blue Cheese potted up into 16L pots with a sheet of cling film clipped in place to try keep some humidity in there.
The Critical+ and Deep Cheese are sat in the middle there, That's the veg tent empty for now.

The light is now on, just waiting for it to come up to temperature in there before I go look into temperatures and humidity, Apparently parabolic run cooler so that will be nice.

Exactly one week down the line since the Barneys Blue Cheese popped up and this is where we are at.

The Dinafem Deep Cheese, She's had a small glass ramekin over her acting as a humidity dome propped open at one edge.
Image

Dinafem Critical+, Again she had a ramekin humidity dome slightly ajar.
Image

Both of those are not doing well at all and are not looking like they will make it, I will never mess around with old seeds again.
The Barneys seedlings on the other hand are coming along nice and have overtook the others. That was a good decision to buy in more seeds.
They had a clingfilm cover for most of the week but removed that a couple of days ago and they have taken well to the new environment.

Image

Although they are showing the scars from my battle with rh a little.
Image
Image

Gotten on top of the rh issue at the moment, This time of year rh drops anyway and im finding the temperature in the tent with a 250w mh isn't going high enough to kick the fans in yet so the air gets dry and rh drops to 45% or lower if im not on the ball.
Managed to get around it by using a reptile fogger and a small fan both on a timer for 15 minutes on 15 minutes off while the light is on, Seems to be working ok for now.

Never had to deal with these issues before in previous houses, this place was built late 50's I think and causes me loads of issues, Never needed a dehumidifier, humidifier and a heater all in one room before lol.

Today I gave them another feed and upped it to 4ml/L ph'd to 5.8, each plant got 2L of feed which seemed to give me just about the right amount of runoff I think. The rhizopot system worked a treat and pumped all my runoff into a 25L barrel that I can use in the garden.

These parabolic shades are the mutts nuts, wish id invested in one of these a long time ago, I think the 250w mh is a bit underpowered for a 1m shade but as the seedlings get a bit hardier I plan on dropping the shade a bit lower anyway so hopefully that will help, when they go 12/12 ill stick the 400w hps in and then after stretch swap to 600w, That's the game plan so far.

Thanks for reading

Yeah that’s the ones @2-Scoops, I won them years ago in a competition on thctalk, I was hoping they would germinate but unfortunately I left them too long

Week 3

A+B = 0.8ml/L
Rootstim = 1ml/L
Fulvic = 0.8ml/L
Silicon = 0.3ml/L
E.C = 1
P.H = 5.8

Previously I was using Shogun start at half strength for the first week, then upped to full strength last week.
This week I've moved them on to the vitalink nutes mixed at the rates above, when the light goes out later they will get there next feed, Not much else to report at the moment though, Things are moving along slowly as expected.

Oh yeah nearly forgot I started foliar feeding this week at 24ml/L at the moment, Sprayed them twice so far with no ill effects so will think about upping it some more another 10ml/L when the sprayer runs out.

Image

Now for the Dinafem Deep Cheese & Critical+. Unreal how slow they are going at the moment, I think one day they will just take off so going to just leave them to do there thing and see what happens, Might even make a mum out of her yet.

Image
Image

You may have noticed the coco looks really wet on those two, turns out I left the nozzle of the fogger hanging above the tray those seedlings was in and as the fogger dripped it was a watering them two.

Hey rik, welcome.
Not sure if there’s much here to learn tbh but your welcome along for the ride none the less.
This is my first time in coco so no doubt there will be all sorts of problems down the line lol.

Yeah the fulvic is also from vitalink at the moment, next time round I might try just buying fulvic acid and see how I get on, new range of nutrients to me so thought I’d stick with the labelled stuff for now, didn’t want to introduce any problems first time round using them.

Thanks for looking in
