I'll do my best to see this diary out
I grew the S.A.G.E many moons ago and it was a beast of a plant. Beautiful long and fat buds that looked impressive but never really had that much going for it in the stone department. Maybe if I popped a few more I might have found a decent pheno that had a bit more of a kick but there are so many strains, to try, I moved on and forgot about it.
I've grown a few TH seeds strains over the years and 80% have been awesome with the chocolate chunk being one of my all-time favs so I decided to revisit the past and try one of their research strains they've marketed as "Limited edition"
These were germinated alongside a bunch of other strains that I threw in to see if I can find a unicorn. Running single strains was taking too long so I tried the brute force approach this time and decided to try a bunch and reduce the numbers before they saw a flowering lamp :) I popped 5 but dropped the lot on the floor while popping them in some media
Lucky for me, I had one male and one female :) I binned the male with a bunch of others that I had and allowed the females to beg a bit more before making my decision around what to keep. The LA Sage X BC X sbc stood out from the rest because of it's beautiful pine and candy smell and it's uniformed growth. She was looking like a keeper! So I brought it back to my op and stripped a bunch of cuttings from the mother and this will be the first run.
Although the strain is sativa dominant (I think), S.A.G.E was always a decent SOG runner as it grew like a mini Christmas tree. I'm hoping that these will grow the same shape and size. On paper, they say 140-170cm so she will be a tall one I'm thinking so these will be turned over very quickly!
The tent is a GreenQube 1.2sq tent and the area is lit by a Lumatek 465 pro LED. The system is the Nutriculture GT100 NFT system. All pretty standard stuff really.
As per usual, this will be a RO run using the GHE thi-part nutrient range. I've gone minimal this time with just the base nutrient, fulvic acid, enzymes and Vitalink Turbo+. These will also be foliar fed weekly with some of my home made foliar rocket fuel
The cuttings have just rooted through the peat pellets and have been placed into 3" rockwool and placed in the system. The system isn't running yet as I'm just waiting for them to fill up the rockwool with roots before I switch on the system.
The mother had a small case of thrip that I picked up and treated just before taking the cuttings but they will get a second spray of spinosad once they've had a week to settle in and start growing. The mother is fine now and no new damage has been observed.
Wish me luck, the last lot I done in this setup were sativa dominant and they ended up ~1.6m and were only ~8" when flipped so I hope these ain't the same :)
