I've done air layering with fig trees in France dude. I was told that it would stand more chance of success than normal cuttings as it's a tree. Left them buried for about six weeks and most had not rooted, very hit and miss. I took normal cuttings and gave the little pots plenty of rain water and they did better. I can imagine though that it may work better in this instance. Out there it was averaging 35⁰ that summer and I couldn't keep the soil wet enough with the layering method, I think it dried out faster than I could get water into it.

Does look interesting. Like the idea of doing it on larger branches to make bigger clones.

This is just my opinion.
The biggest thing about that is it's too time consuming. Wrapping each and every branch. I can see it working well with trees because they are woody and take awhile to grow roots.
I'd rather just cut the branch, stick it in a peat pellet and let it go. Usually takes about 10 days but they usually root.

I've seen it done on trees but this popped up whilst researching and never thought that air layering would transfer to canna. Dont know why.

I've done clones in cups amd they took but did nothing with them it was more a let's see if I can do this sort of thing.

Only got autos atm so when the photos are back in tent I might have a go on one or 2 branches just for a giggle

wanna try it just to get 20 big clones n give them a week veg n flip, more a time saver
