Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
I'll have to recheck thermometer but pretty sure it stays around 18 at night, I just googled what the turning purple might be and says lack of phosphorus so maybe more bloom? But leaves also have a claw so too much Nitrogen? Or mayve just because it's in late flower

Yeah, I do. I dunno whos advised you against defoliation but I think it's a misconception these days. You don't need to go mad but yeah, deffo unblock the light to bud sites.Terry_Flanagan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 8:39 pmI know I've been advised against defoliation but should I trim any leaves blocking bud sites? Have only been removong dead or dying leaves so far

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
Thought that was the end of the thread. The damage done to 1 point of injury will be counteracted by the bud growth from receiving more light. That's why I say don't go mad but unblock the bud sites from the light.
In the wild, if a plant gets half-eaten by a deer, it doesn't keel over and die... it 100% of the time recovers. Just like all life, it wants to keep living. People saying defoliating one or two leaves that are blocking light, just like those huge leaves you have on your plants, will be detrimental to your yield is bollox. Strip 50% of ALL leaves maybe, yeah, but just a few here and there won't make much negative difference and will make some positive difference

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
Could be. I'd verify with one of the more experienced growers. I use a chart that shows what leaves looks like with every single different deficiency.Terry_Flanagan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 9:00 amI'll have to recheck thermometer but pretty sure it stays around 18 at night, I just googled what the turning purple might be and says lack of phosphorus so maybe more bloom? If it is Phosphorus, maybe add some. It could be locked out too. Amino acids helps this. I use Mammoth P. A little expensive but some growers swear by it and a small 40 quid bottle will last me years!
I'd check what others think 1st too? May have a different idea.

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
What pH you watering them at¿ Whats the runoff pH¿ Deficiencies and lockouts can normally be resolved by adjusting the pH one way or another.

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
There is a bar chart type I use for organic soils, tells you availability of certain nutes and different PH levels. Don't you use something similar with bottle feeds etc....?

You shouldn't need to worry about the pH in organic soil. The micro life should take care of that for you anyway. But yes, there is one for soil & Soilless mediums, and I'm not sure if there is a slightly different one for Hydro or not.

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
I don't PH anymore. But that only works if you have enough buffer in your soil plus if your water has high alkalinity that would effect it?KrazyDave wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:49 amYou shouldn't need to worry about the pH in organic soil. Still check my soil. 6.5 to 6.8 ish last night. Bit of a loose tolerance but tells you if you're in the right range.
Biochar is an excellent buffer.

Re: Blue Dream first photo grow
I'll check my PH tonight to be sure, when I checked on her last night buds seemed to have thickened up over night so hopefully will start boosting now
