Nice wish i had your weather up here lol . Im lucky to grow outdoors from mid/end of May to firsr week of September , we had a 6" snowfall and a frost on june 6 nearly lost it all , had to scramble get the row covering on while it snowed lol

My grandparents were Cajuns from Louisiana . Expelled by the British in Nova Scotia way back then came back in the 1930's

Yes they are good hearted folks , what i found astonishing was that some still speak French down there , almost just as good as us
