Multistrain Madness

Post by Ukbudz »

So I titled this thread multistrain madness but it should really be sadness  you'll see why as we go along.

Like I said in my intro thread I'm currently on day 35 of bloom with a sour garlic cookies, 2 genos of Chocomania og and 2 genos of Kalamata red which is a Greek landrace strain and is 100% sativa ( this becomes relevant later on

Currently in a 1.2m tent with a 6" out and under a 315w cmh and a 400w hps temps hover around 26-28 lights on and 22-24 lights off. Humidity is around 60-65%. The lights are on 11hours on and 13off to try and bring the sativas on a bit faster.

I've been running no till since around April but this will sadly be my last run as I'm going back into the loft in coco for stealth reasons. This mix is a mountain organics mix I picked up from a lad on another forum https://mountainorganics.net/p/soil its the last recipe above the houseplant mix.

I changed a few things due to availability and added some stuff that wasn't on there. The mix was 200 litres and consisted of 100l of peat, 40l of worm casts, 40l leaf mould, 5kg rock dust, 10kg spf60 biochar/soil improver, 3 cups of kelp meal, 3 cups of neem meal, 3 cups of gnarly barley, ecothrive charge and 500g of dr forest grokashi all mixed by hand then put into 56 litre fabric pots. The plants were put in a day later without any sign of stress or nutrient burn.

Anyway enough of me waffling on like a dick :oik!: time for some pics

This was my three Kalamata red before and after topping, the boy was going to be kept for some pollen chucking but he decided to herm in veg so he was binned.

Image
This was day 1 of veg, i started out with 2 kalamata reds, 7 sour garlic cookies and 3 chocomania og

This was 4 days later on the 10th after I had put some worms in after forgetting

Image

4 days later again on the 14th, at this point i realised that this living soil using water only was easily vegging as quick as my rdwc system when I ran autos.

4 days later again and I have removed 3 late showing males and they've been netted ready for flip so we are down to 9 plants 2 Kalamata red, 4 sour garlic cookies and 3 Chocomania og. Would of like to veg for longer but I was conscious of the Kalamata stretch.

This is where shit went sideways and the ladyboys of Bangkok came out to play

Image

i ended up losing the smelliest sour garlic cookies and Chocomania og which were both absolutely reeking when I chopped them out so all in I lost 3 sour garlic cookies and a Chocomania og

Image

the joy of no till is nothing leaves the house and it all feeds your next crop

a brief interlude of a predatory nature

The vid with all the mites is some different pots in a different tent there mainly rove beetles and hypoapsis miles. I don't really get thrip and gnat problems in there now, I wonder why :ak:

Image

Some super cropping on the Kalamata reds

So we are now up to date and your thinking ah I'm glad he's over the hermie issues but don't fret we aren't

Today I found these on Chocomania og #1
Image

Nuts everywhere, my own fault I thought I was safe but I wasn't, you'll notice they've lost there colour have opened and are dry so I'm guessing they've been there a while. None of the other plants have brown pistils so I'm hoping they were sterile :idn:

And finally the really good bit some bud pics

First up the latest ladyboy
Image
looking real sexy till you look under her skirt

Next Chocomania og
Image
Who said no till cant yield :drama:  should be a good old cola when she's cooked

A couple of Kalamata reds
Image
Image

No mistaking the sativa in these lady's look like they've easily got another 8-9 weeks

And finally the sour garlic cookies bx
Image

There's no light leaks in this tent at all as I've sat in her for 30 mins and I cant see my hand in front of my face and to make double sure its got 2 black out curtains over it, only thing I can put the hermies down to is bad breeding and genetics. I've had nothing but herms since starting to run a lot of this Cali hype seeds. First was seed junkies octane mint sorbet got one female out a pack and she threw nuts 2 weeks in, exotic genetix strawberry lemonades threw nuts 4-5 weeks in bloom, which was a shame as they looked and smelled banging and then this tent. So in the new year its gong to be clone runs only but in coco sea of green due to height restrictions.

Ill stick another update up next Monday at the start of week 6 :thanks:

I've been following your luck as you know ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

I often rant about "hype" strains on our podcast. I believe to many breeders are rushing genetics to get on the latest big money strain, no way the testing goes into some of them. You get a new hype strain pop up and with months there's crosses, autos. Biggest issue is hype strains are getting crossed with hype strains now...

Very nice start to the diary mate. Ill be tagging along.

@DIY.Rik welcome along mate :pass:

@Chad.Westport thanks bro, fingers crossed we do ok as I'll be taking a bit of a break to build my loft room after this run so it will have to last

@Keeno it's definitely been a case of if 2020 was a grow

You're right about the hype train too mate its all about getting those insta likes and followers. Most of them will do massive geno hunts sometimes with 1000's of plants then just stick a pic up on insta, then start chucking them out untested for idiots like me to run :suicide:

Like I said the other week mate I'm visiting the clone fairy for the foreseeable. Shame really as I enjoy hunting through seeds but it's becoming like too much hard work lately.

Doesn't stop me window shopping though

Day 42 in the ladyboy lover house

Gave the ladies a top dress of a cup of gnarly barley last night watered in with some fulvic acid and wetting agent. I'm currently giving them 10 litres between the three plants every other day.

The dreaded thrips are back so I dumped my last container of rove beetles in the beds, ill have to grab some more in the future as I have none left to breed with now. In my fourth cycle living soil pots the predators have built up a big enough population where they handle any thrips or gnats before they get out of control. Once I get paid ill order some swirskii and Orius laevigatus to try to deal with them till harvest.

Had to take the pics on my phone this week as my SD card for the dslr decided to crap out on me, so not the best quality. Also the extractor has started to give up the ghost but it is going on 10 years old so not to bad. Only downside is that temps have been rising to 30, I've got 3 plants to come down tomorrow in a different tent so ill swap the extractor fans around and we should be golden.

Image

Sour garlic cookies Smells a bit like milk bone if anyone has had that if not its like soured milk mixed with dawg ( I'm crap at strain descriptions  )

Image

Chocomania OG smells like a musky, tart boiled sweet. I'm not a fan at the minute but we will see how she finishes and smokes like before making a decision. I've got cuts of her and the sour garlic cookies incase I want to keep either.

Image

And finally the triffids that are my Kalamata reds, they caught me out with the stretch and are showing signs of light and heat stress from the failing fan. I reckon if I hadn't super cropped, tied down and bent them under the net they probably stretched about 8-10 times there flip height. Getting some real old school cedar wood, frankincense and musky smells off these girls.

Pics of the full tent

That's it for this week folks, ill be back next week with week 7 and we should have a better idea of how long till  time
Thanks for looking in :thanks:

That Sour Garlic is a frosty girl. Thrips are the devil, only thing worse is mites. Ive never used predators but will look up the beetles for future issues. The Kalamata reds are proper sativa looking girls, looking like a long while on them.

Nice update mate, thank you for sharing.

Before this living soil malarkey I would of just gave them a spray 5 days apart of provanto bug killer before flower and that would've wiped them out but with trying to stay organic it's a constant battle of predators vs pest and organizational skills aren't my strong suit ๐Ÿ˜‚. I hope she smokes as nice as she looks mate, aswell you know she's the last of her line ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

Yeah those kalamatas looks like they've got at least 6 weeks left I would say. she's meant to be some special herb apparently a real laughing gas type high.

Thanks for looking in ๐Ÿ‘
