Following my recent issue with root rot with my initial full hydro build, I have decided to grow a couple of alternatives in a mix of Coco and Clay Pebbles using the Auto Pot system of 'automated' growing.
*Edit* Entered into the GR420 Annual Grow Off - 2020! competition.
Growers Choice 'Water Melon Wedding Cake' :-
- 30% indica 70% sativa
- Genetics: wedding cake x watermelon zkittlez
- Flowering indoors: 8-9 weeks
- Harvest outdoors: Mid-October
- Indoor yield: 450g/600gg m2
- THC: 28%
(disclaimer: this grow is obviously on me and the results have no bearing on the actual AutoPot potential or any advice from 2 Scoops I fail to follow correctly etc).
A simple google search will show a number of very successful AutoPot grows:-
So 5 days ago (5th of June) one of my various packets of seeds that I have won in the amazing competitions held here at the GrowRoom experienced the drop and pop -
BIG UP THE GROWROOM420 Massive.
I went with the WaterMelonWeddingCake (here by known as 'WMWC') because I love the sound of the name alone - I never even checked the stats! plus I had two packets of these so using one to test out the AutoPots seemed like a good growers choice - pun inteded ;o) so they were soaked over night in a glass of tap water then put into a wet paper towel on top of the fridge and all 3 popped and were put into a makeshift JIFFY BAG propagator (got the idea from Captain using Jiffy Bags to do his clones, and it works great - Diolch Captain) :-
Tap roots are showing out of the bottom of each Jiffy Cube (and my Coco finally arrived) so they were moved into small pots with a small layer of pebbles (washed the shit outta them first) at the bottom as advised by 2 Scoops:-
I then put the Coco Pebble mix on top although I tried to remove as many pebbles as possible out of the 60/40 mix and placed these pebbles as the top layer (which is why there are so many visible pebbles in the pictures) which I thought might make it easier to replace these with Coco when they get moved up into the main AutoPot - pots, if required and I also didn't want to just chuck them back into the supply bag - messing with the ratio.
My new 60 watt Fully Dimmable HLG-60H-48AB MEAN WELL Driver also finally arrived so both were promptly fitted to the additional Invisible Sun R-Strip (these are 30 watt but with the heat sink can be over clocked to 60 watt) I have as my new Germination / Veg light.
Hard to take pictures of LED light brightness but the following show some of the range and spread of the single R-Strip which I think works really well as a Germination / Veg light (and can be moved into the main tent as a fill-the-gaps type if needed):-
Again, gone with a home made propagation tent made out of a bag and a cardboard box with the bottom part of the bag serving as a drain to catch any run off and the top part of the bag allowing a full dome to increase humidity. Works well:-
The little PC fan is voltage speed controlled via a simple USB 'adjustable voltage regulator' and provide a good solution for low air movement
Overall I think the little make shift 'stage one environmental control system' is working well:-
Hope to get as much interest as my other grow as I really appreciate the advice you guys give out along the way, and on that note I would like to say a personal thank you to 2 Scoops for stepping up and offering to help me with no hesitation. Thank you 2 Scoops mate, I hope you don't hate me when it all goes tits up for what ever reason ;o)
This forum absolutely rocks but it not just the competitions that make this a great place to hang out. If there were no competitions and no free seeds etc... This would still be my home and I love all you guys.
*Edit* Removed 'White Text blocks' as these obviously (once pointed out) that these don't work so well in the 'light' theme. Sorry.
looking forward to your results as always
looks like the kind of plant with not much leaf!!! I think its gonna be a big bugger with a bit of veg in a big pot
