Franco tribute- organic and coco run

Post by Josh »

Watsup growroom?!

I completely redesigned my 4x8 foot tent, and somewhere along the way I decided I wanted to try coco for the first time

So in the left bed we have the original franco mom, she's at nearly 6 weeks from seed I think
I rooted 4 cuttings from her, 2 went in the other soil bed and 2 went into 2 gallon air pots
https://shop.greenhouseseeds.nl/feminis ... accepted=Y

The coco clones are already stomping the soil, they recovered much quicker with more frequent feedings. It's the first time I've seen yellow clone leaves turn back green again

Me likey already

I'll start with the coco setup

Medium- brick coco that I got for free
Rinsed well and strained under hot tap water to remove potential salts and the powdery coco. Turned out really nice

Buffered twice 8 hours each time in bucket of cal-mag water, 1.2 EC
Mixed with 20% perlite so I can water more frequently and rinsed until runoff was around .4 EC

Planted clones and watered again with .4, ph 6.2

Feeds are now at 1.0 EC, ph 6.2 once per day and they're taking off. Gonna lower EC to .7 and back off to once every other day though. I want these roots to start branching out

In flower I'm hoping for these to be very rooted so I can feed multiple times per day like 4-5 at peak flower

Timer hooked to 150gph pump and ran to 2 hydro halos
2 air stones in the reservoir, water stays around 75 F without frozen water bottles

Nutrients- general hydroponics flora series
Micro, grow and bloom. No boosters this time

Using cal-mag obviously and humic acid also. Adding silica next res change which is tonight

UC Roots- this is meant to keep the res sterile, smells like bleach

Once they get big enough to justify it, there's a 300-600 watt mh/hps up above that'll be turned on

Soil setup- coots mix that I've been using

Mainly water only so far, the right bed won't be a proper scrog like the left. Hoping to have enough time to top each plant once and let them go
I'll be flipping to flower when the single franco is about 75% full

Extraction- 8 inch vivosun inline fan/filter

Other strains- the right bed has 2 franco clones in the back, barney's triple cheese in the middle, a feminised gelato seed front left and "eleven roses" front right

Other lights- custom 3x3 foot aluminum frame with 5 invisible sun ish120 boards

Also 4 ebay sun boards at 2700k saved for flower
Altogether around 500 watts maxed out

Also using a 660 watt (dimmable) dominator 2xxl from lush lighting
https://lushledlighting.com/product/dominator-2x-xl/
I found this thing for 1/4 of original price online, sent it in to get fixed and they repaired for pretty cheap even though it was way out of warranty

Great light though. Super bright, also has ir and far red/uv sprectum diodesImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Ok folks, so 8 days has made a big difference

I'm blown away by the growth rate of the coco clones compared to soil, the pics speak for themselves. They've been topped and fully recovered already
Think I might have to do an all coco run in the big tent after this me likey so far

The coco clones are being fed once per day still, ec 1.1 ph 6.0-6.2

All soil plants getting plain water still, but I'll brew up a compost tea soon to make sure the soil life is top notch before flower

Big franco is really taking off!
https://youtu.be/Ogp4SEoJAZA

One side of the screen filled out way faster, when I planted I was stupid and didn't put her directly in the middle
Oh well, I'll pinch away and tie them to the screen if I have to

Not my first rodeo with a big girl

Triple cheese, gelato and eleven roses all looking good, steady growthImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Marcus wrote:Lovely looking tent there Josh!

I'm hoping my next door neighbour's borders look like that come spring, what with the stray beans I find in random buds and me chucking them over into her garden! :oik!:

Something tells me you don't get along with your neighbors thanks for stopping in, always a good laugh
