Hey @420mFuk,420mFuk wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 11:43 amOhh dude sincerely sorry for your loss, although 15 (if a little immature) aint a complete loss, how long did they have left?.
This grow style you say 180 MPH on a motorway.. I say *dragster* . . . one mistake and your on the wall, totaled vehicle and barely alive but at the same time there's no faster way to get there nft/dwc/misters etc your absolutely right. Takes a brave grower to drive those systems especially without a chiller !! much respect and admiration dude for trying, fair play to ya.
I think UV for sure makes a difference, however your gonna have to rerun the test as the root stress could be responsible for the extra stickiness and terps, in fact I'd argue both factors influenced your buds profile. Interesting nonetheless.
Don't you think you'll have problems every time the summer comes ? if you don't either cool the room with AC or add a chiller to res. I noticed you write your thinking to combat this next round by raising the table & less pump time, I'm not being cheeky but I don't understand why/how will this prevent pathogens colonizing again, will running the pump less to drop temp do the trick & what about drybacks ? I'm curious because I don't chill my res(s) & as the temps increase I do worry, once they hit 24c I start adding H2o2 every 3 days, I was ok last year but still I worry so any advice for managing res appreciated.
BTW Im a secret fan, scanned your pics in the past & read quite a lot of your comments here and there, you'd be welcome to my BBQ & you wouldn't need bring your own, unless of course to show off... which would of course be welcomed. Good Knowledgeable comments & a top banana. Credit to GR420... right enuff bromance... laters
Even though these had the dreaded root rot I let them run their course so they were in fact done. The weird thing about when they have these types of issues is that the flowers tend to stop growing and start to floss but the thrichomes remain clear until they're truly cooked.
I've run NFT quite a few times and although I ran into the odd issue previously, I never had these types of issues. TBH, I said the summer got me but looking back at the data from the loggers, the water temprature didn't go above 24C. That's perfect as far as I'm aware? I do have another theory though. Previously, I've always used the long, thin types of NFT from nutriculture (mostly gt604). This time I've gone for this gt100 what is square and a lot wider. When I took the plants down I noticed that the rockwook was considerably wet and there were some darker patches around that area. Not only that, this has happened 2/2 times now using the same system. I wonder if the wider tray is dipping a bit in the middle and causing the water to pool up in the middle? There is a support in the middle but if I press on the tray there is a bit of give there too. Mer who knows
Raising the tray and cycling the pump were all old tricks I used to use back in the day. Previously, these systems used to have a brick pattern rather than the diamond pattern. This used to slow the water flow down quite a but and once the root system was established, the water used to back up and suffocate the roots. To remedy this, I used to super glue a bunch of 2ps together and raise one end to speed up the flow. Also cycling the pumps helped too.
This time around I've been following the advice given by nutriculture but I feel like it may just be too wet for cannabis.
Good question around the pathogens. Its a deep rabbit hole and I'll have to butcher the explanation to keep things short
I think I'll give this system one more try and implement all of the things I did previously as well as maybe look to add some extra support to the center and see wagwan. If they rot again than I'll put a hammer through it and maybe swap for 2x604 systems or something. The good thing about the 604 is that it's sturdy enough to throw a bunch of pots on too and use as a drain to waste table. That way I can choose to throw a bunch of pots on if I want to do a pheno hunt or if it's roasting and water temp could be an issue.
And thanks for the compliments dude :) I'll look forward to the invite :)
