I bought a bottle of Teraganix brand Em1 starter for $30 USD

Im trying to activate it now



I know I should have probably done a full gallon because they say not to leave that much air space but Im hoping it takes off

You can actually buy em-1 in a 1l bottle which goes a long way, I add it to my water/feed on and off throughout the grow to keep the microbe population goin, I have no idea if this improves things but just seems like a good idea to keep the plants healthy and keep bas guys away.

I sell this recipe under another name as em1 is trademarked. I can also get the spores to make it if anyone needs it. With regards to pickling, you get the same effect just diluting to the recommended level and spraying your compost heap every time you add to it. This is one of the reasons I'm no longer stocking bokashi, it's more cost effective to spray the liquid than buy bokashi and pay for the extra weight in postage unless you're light on organic matter and need it.
I'll point out though that to get the best out of it your compost heap should be made as airtight as possible and your compost should be useable faster while retaining more bulk.

It’s a very good point about the bokashi, makes sense just to spray it directly.
