Cheers. That looks like a beast (in a good way). I saw the 5 ton version. Does it work like a car jack in that you pump it to increase pressure then let go, or do you have to hold the handle down until the end?

I use silver leaf trim pressed to a puck with Reynolds Parchment Paper, which rips if I apply too much pressure, but not found anything better so I'd love to know what people use with those high pressure machines. The Rosinbomb Rocket only exerts 1500lb (0.75 ton) max. I never had much luck with bags or hash, probably due to lack of pressure.

This could be good: https://recommendedvapesupplies.co.uk/p ... -parchment
Yeah thats right its just car bottle jack with a gauge, you just jack the handle and keep the pressure on the whole time. If you put the plates together metal to metal and get the needle to rise you can let go of the handle and the gauge will just sit there where you left it. With a bag in its a little different, as the bag is compressed you need to keep applying pressure, the rosin starts leaking out meaning you need to add more pressure to keep the needle on the gauge where you want it but you cant overpressure it or youll get bag splits and parchment splits if that makes sense, without a gauge its guesswork so definitely worth getting one with some sort of readout.

Ive only used it with the parchment that came with it and that was unbranded but ive just bought a roll of raw branded parchment, it seems quite tough but haven’t pressed with it yet, ill report back when ive tried it.

so far its been really good, been using it for 3 weeks now so still early days but been getting some good results. Only used it with popcorn so far though so getting nowhere near the yields I’m seeing on youtube but its a much safer way to process my popcorn so theres no going back now.
The bags have been wasteful if I’m honest, i pack them bottle tech style and fold the corners in, basically everything they show you in the nugsmasher vids im doing just that, still ending up with product left on the bags.
So i started using a piece of 50mm aluminium tube cut down to roughly 70mm, been using that like a pre press mold and then pressing without a bag, getting good results like that. Just waiting on a chunk of aluminium in the post then i can machine it down for the other 2 parts of the pre press mold. Postal strike going on though so waiting for ages

Have you worked out the formulas for how much pressure your using? Maybe your just using too much pressure and its causing the splits?

In a similar way I push the button a few times to keep the pressure even. Mine presses the puck, then stops, then I wait about 30 seconds and press the button once more until it stops. If I press the button once more after a minute or so the paper usually splits, so I know to stop after the second button push and it will be fine. I like the idea of a pressure gauge though.

The problem I had with RAW parchment was the brown colour that made it difficult to see the rosin, otherwise it seemed OK. I also tried Black Label ULTRA, which was expensive and very disappointing. The best I've used so far was the sheets that came with my Rosinbomb, but no idea where to get that. I reckon Reynolds is pretty good for a cheap one that I also use for baking.

This is my pre-press and it works well: https://www.rosintechproducts.com/produ ... -mold-mini

I see, so its as simple as just pushing a button on yours then. that rosin bomb looks pretty good, how is it powered? Some sort of pneumatic pump or something?

Week 12 Curing
Total Veg Time = 9 Weeks
Total Flower Time = 9 Weeks

The best part of two days of trimming and im left with this little lot
Image

400g of dried bud, accidentally went down to 56% rh
Image

140g of Popcorn
Image

266g of trim
Image

and for completeness 402g of stems and branches
Image

Don't forget to clean your dust covers

All in all a pretty good harvest, got a little bit more than I expected so thats a result.
