Low Watt Grow - 190w in 80x80cm

Post by GMO »

Hello and welcome to another diary which i wasnt going to keep tbh

I have been vegging and training a scrog for some time which some of you may have seen posted here and there but i checked the draw of the light and realized its only the titled 190w so i figured why not document a low watt/ under lit grow :idn:

The strain is an old fave of mine Disco Biscuits from UGORG and there are 2 plants which have been trained into the net

Im also using my DIY wilma system which can be found in this thread diy-micro-wilma-build-2131_ fresh link https://growroom420.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2131

The light is a DIY panel which is covered in this thread let-there-be-light-1295 fresh link - https://growroom420.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1295 however the light is limited to 190w due to my poor soldering of the Pot which dims the unit

Some training early on and the plants in place

Filling out

Addition of a heater went pretty badly (i moved the heater after this event)

It was around this point discussion of flip with Bulls and Nanook lead me to throw the switch

And this is where we were at yesterday

ImageImage

Feeds are Canna coco A+B, Canna PK 13/14, omina from RAW and i will be giving them a lil dose of Cresult in the next few days

Lets see what 192.4w of ultimate cosmic power can do :D

...why not document a low watt/ under lit grow ... Lets see what 192.4w of ultimate cosmic power can do
The title felt misleading once i realized it's about relatively standardized 2700 to 5700 ºK strips with CRI's above 80 %, while i expected a light spectrum to get sub-divided into at least 1 dozen bands likely to range from 330 to 730 nm, while exploiting dual-peek (2-stage "ionic pump") chlorophyl A/B response(s) and similar, etc.: as it's the non-essential (dark) bands which render substantial power savings actually possible & practical IMO.

So, in principle, even when reaching the "ultimate" low there's still a lot more power to save just by using vegetation strips instead.

Good day, have fun!! Image

Tbh Its my understanding that it's the outlying wavelengths that are getting the most focus now with far and deep red the topics of great interest. The light itself was more a test of theory in regards to 1£:1W in the cost of making an led light

I'm also led to believe the standard is for 30-35w per square foot, so again this is more a test of theory than a scientific comparison... just yet

I wouldn't class 190w as low wattage. The Mars light I used years ago was 180-200 range. The last few grows of mine have been 95w. Doing well considering.

Hmr81 wrote:As usual, forgive my ignorance. But is the 190w light the draw of the light or the lights rating?
The panel should be capable of drawing 230w ish doing the maths, but cos I soldered the dimmer on badly it's only drawing 192.4w from the wall

Ooosh, yeah compared to 95w I cant hold a candle. It's more a reference to the typical 30-35w that is specified as needed

So 192.4w over 80x80cm is under lit

Not much difference is tent size. Mine's 60x90.
