Josh's dwc (chemdawg)

Post by Josh »

Watsup growroom! I know I said I was done growing for a while because of the move, but found out the landlords are basically non-existent so back at it

Nothing too crazy this time, just a small closet grow.
Here's the rundown:

*Air cooled hood with 600 watt hortilux mh for veg (dimmed)
Hortilux hps for flower

*only using gh maxibloom from start to finish, keeping it very simple

*bluelab guardian for my ph and ec readings

*couple of gh dual diaphragm air pumps with 4 large stones (wild weather but the roots love it)

*1/10 hp chiller with an Iwaki inline pump

*torus hydro ph stabilizer, thank you to nanook for turning me onto it. I'll post more about it later but the ph fluctuates from 5.7 to 6.2 just like it's supposed to

*running tap water with no additives. No peroxide or beneficial bacteria. Just keeping it cheap and simple

*custom pvc scrog attached to lid

Ok, so like I mentioned before, I'm using the torus hydro ph thingy. Therefore I I'm going to try and go the entire grow without changing the rez. Should be an interesting experiment though. According to them it drastically reduces the amount of maintenance as far as water changes go.
Worst case scenario, root rot fuck ittttt
If the ph\ec starts going crazy I'll change it though

That's it for tonight, but I'll be posting regular updates thanks for stopping in everyone, glad to be back

Hey everyone! Hope all is going well, quick update for you

Prbly about 2 weeks or so since transplanting to my dwc tub, they're nice and established and about to hit the screen finally I'll have something to do to with them, lmao
I usually top once before they hit the screen but I think I'll leave them alone this time and only slightly defoliate/train as time goes on.

Looking to flip after about 70-80% of the screen is full, the past two times I've waited too long and had a very uneven canopy so hoping to get it right this time.

Btw, the roots are stained pink from the maxibloom, lmao. Looks kind of cool I guess Upped the EC to 1.0 last week because they were a bit pale, looking good now.

So far the torus capsule has been excellent though, the pH has been fluctuating between 6.0 and 5.6 the last 2 weeks. Haven't had to adjust at all even after adding water and nutes

See you in another week for the next update

Doing great job in there mate. Glad to see that the PH thingy is working. Looks like it's worth the money. I've seen grows with one res change only at two feeks since flower. I am sure you will do well mate

Thank you bulls I figured that's the selling point for me so I might as well take advantage and see how long I can go without doing a res change. Less work in the groom always makes me happy

Weekly update for you guys

Things are chugging along nicely, one is obviously more vigourous than the other so I think I know which one to take clones from
They stink already and only 2 weeks from seed, can't wait until flower

Ec has been slowly dropping as well as water whuch is a good sign, might up the ec to 1.2 another week from now but staying at 1.1 for the time being no need to rush things.
Took a picture in normal lighting so you guys can see the true color, lmk what you think
Still under 300 watts metal halide, I like to defoliate often so I see no need for the full 600 watts until later in flower

Ph has also been steady at 5.7 for a few days now

Thanks for stopping by, see you next week

Good morning Josh. Hope you had a great weekend buddy. Plants are looking very nice mate. Colour is spot on them, stems are happy and the roots are more than healthy. As you say if the EC is dropping, that is a good sign that they are feeding well. Keep it that way. 300 w is more than enough for these little babies, it is even too much. Have you already topped the big girl?

Thank you bulls, haven't topped her but might to let the other catch up. I usually just use the screen for training only.
What do you think?

Hey everyone

As you can see from the pics quite a bit has changed since last week

Most notably there's only one plant now Decided to pull the plug on the runt, it was super healthy but just refused to grow into the screen. Probably would have been a really good pheno for a sea of green grow, but I prefer to keep plant numbers down as much as possible.
Went ahead and topped the survivor last week also

Not too dissapointed though, this has been my most hands-off grow by far. Just been taking about 12 Liters out per week and replacing it with tap water to get the ph back where it needs to be.
There has been a very slight fall in ph, about .3 per week, but I think my EC was just a bit too low. After upping to 1.2 it hasn't moved for a few days. Steady 5.8

Just a reminder for you guys, I've been using nothing but GH Maxibloom the entire grow, even from seedling. It has basically everything in it, even cal/mag. Nitrogen is a bit low for veg but I've seen no issues so far and I'm really happy with the progress
This will by far be the simplest/cheapest grow I've done if all goes as planned.
One bag of Maxibloom powder cost me 15$ from amazon, will prbly last at least 3 grows I'd imagine

Thanks for stopping by, see you all next week for another update

All the best,
Josh
