I hereby officially start my second Growdiary.
I've been looking for the lost 'Chocolate Mint OG' by Humboldt Seeds for a long time. I think most of you have heard or read about how Humboldt Seeds got busted.
After a long search, it came as it should. A buddy and small grower from my area got what feels like the last existing seed of this strain from a friend of his. I made him realize how much I would like to have this strain. This sounded so good to him that he wanted to keep the seed and we agreed that he would take cuttings.
Said and done. So I got 4 cuttings of the Choco Mint OG about 3 months ago. Unfortunately only a pheno, but better than nothing.
Since I had no space for the 4 ladies, I kept them small for a very long time and thought about what I would do with them.
I came to the decision to cut a new batch of cuttings from these 4 cuttings and to display a tent with the ChocoMint. In my case that means I need 9 good cuttings. This was the first time that I cut cuttings myself.
This has all happened so far, I rooted the cuttings well and repotted them into the large pots (9-14L) a week ago.
The cuttings are now about 5 weeks old since they were cut.
As in my first diary, they are in a living soil mix. If anyone would like to know anything about my mixture or the Living Soil product, they are welcome to read my first diary.
So the 9 little mints are currently in a 1x1x2m tent under a 75W lamp with 5000K for growth. The lamp is from a German company called Bloomstar.
They now remain in vegetation until my 1.2x1.2x2m tent is free (see first diary). Unfortunately, the thrips have already arrived, but the young plants are much easier to treat.
Otherwise, the 9 ladies look good, only the front right is weakening a bit.
These were my mate's 4 cuttings after a long growing season in 0.5L pots with my living soil before I cut my cuttings from them.
These are my cut cuttings from which I later chose 9. Or exactly 9 got through haha.
These are my rooted cuttings before repotting.
Here again after the repotting last week.
And this picture is from today.
The reason why I really wanted to have this strain is because of the following.
I saw this strain grown by a friend of a friend about 3-4 years ago. And unfortunately it only came down to the fact that I could only try one head down the pipe. But that one head was enough to make me fall in love. A strong smell of dark chocolate and an even stronger taste of mint. I couldn't believe how pronounced that minty flavor was. These great aromas were followed by a strong, couchlocking stone and the certainty of growing this strain.
Humboldt Seeds has been back for a good year now and actually released the new "Chocolate Mint OG 2.0" 2 weeks ago, so the new replica hybrid. I will most likely try these as well at some point, however next I want to try the grower's choice palette which I now own. (huge thanks to grower's choice and the GR420
