GrandDaddy Purple, a minimalist grow

Post by MrBill »

On March 31, 2021, New York became the 15th state to legalize recreational marijuana.
On April 2, the seeds were in to germinate.

I have not attempted a grow for about 20 years. Seemed like a good time to see what I could do with it, now that I don't have to hide it.
This grow was done with minimum cost and equipment.
It started with some seeds donated to the cause that a friend gave me.

APRIL 8, WE HAVE LIFE!

They were placed on a damp paper towel between two saucers.
4 sprouted, started 3 more for a total of 6 seedlings that made it, my "legal limit".

The cage they are in is a dog cage. Turned it upside down and put the tray in the bottom. First light easily hung inside and moveable.

Hang in there Paul, it WILL be worth the wait. They are actually about a week from harvest, but haven't finished this diary. Took a sample from 7 week into bloom flower and dried it and smoked it. Even 2 weeks early and uncured, I was impressed with the results so far.
Will post more on how they developed (and how they got there) soon. :Stoned:

Went to local hardware store to get some lighting. Had no idea that the florescents I had used in the past, have been replaced by LEDs.
Bought a 30w multi-spectrum LED and was shocked to pay $49 for a single bulb! Bought it because the "babies" we're popping up and needed SOMETHING for light.
Did a little research on Amazon and found a set of 6 42w LEDs for about $100 and set them all on top of the dog crate.
We have light.

Was also given a roll of reflective vinyl that I cut and tossed over the whole thing, making a tent of sorts, holds enough heat and moisture in and reflected light to get the job done ….

(This pic was taken weeks later after I had removed the dog crate and raised the lights)

Also bought fiber seedling cups, pots from the Dollar store, a bag of Miracle Grow potting soil, a bag of topsoil and a box of indoor/outdoor Miracle Grow granules.

I did say this was a minimalistic project.
Less narration and more pics from here on, I promise. 😎

4Week 4 of veg.
Started looking pretty sad with yellowing leaves. Transplanted cup and all into larger pots, started watering less often , every 3 days instead of every other day and feeding every other watering. ¾ of the half tsp measure in M Grow to a 20 oz bottle of tap water in each pot.
