love this, can 300w in a 4x4 measure up ?? its exciting , nerve racking too, but its beautiful.

it raises so many questions if its successful , will people accept a 300w system for a 4x4 space ? will people pay the high price tag for lesser watts ? is a light that lasts 10 years needed ?

any input from you growers would be appreciated
Ten years does sound very long for a high powered light to last.

Maybe these are aimed more for a professional grower @Keeno
Only a pro grower would make them worth it then really?

Or maybe the best lights for olkskool moving from HPS etc..... so maybe worth marketing it towards these two aspects?

hi its a shame my friend from tgc forest is not around here yet he builds and sells led lights and i bought mine from him direct he also sells on ebay but mines maybe 5 years old now and been in regular use and still looks as bright as when it was new im sure he would be interested in watching this diary, mines a quantum board and his build quality is outstanding.
i guess leds will be a bit like digital watches and the first few years they cost a packet and after a few years when more people make them competition encourages lower prices, hopefully :idn: good luck all

Update - Day 18 Flower

These are progressing very nicely. There is zero difference in the plants under the 300w test light and the 720w light next to them at this stage. All plants went into true flower around day 6 of 12/2, node spacing is identical, size of early bud sites. I'm amazed at this point with how these lights are performing. Ive been saying the only difference is the plant health, they are healthier under the 300w test light.

The lights are about 8 inches, stretch has stopped so ill get them really low in the next week.

Update

Sorry for the lack of updates the last 2 weeks. The forums birthday then a nasty virus in the house had me all over the place.

These are progressing nicely and I'm a little shocked at what I'm seeing. The X-Bar tests lights are more than keeping up with the much higher-powered lights next to them. Ill list some dated picture updates below but the plants are reacting better under 300w of test light rather than the high-powered lights next to them. The plants have a much deeper smell under the test lights and trichome production is definitely higher. The latter shocked me more than anything as I've often associated trichome production with the amount of light of the intensity of it. It's looking to me that there is definitely something to running more efficiently with more LED diodes per board.

Day 18 Flower

At this point, the plants are on 1.25ml per liter Canna Coco A and B, 0.5ml per liter Canna PK 13/14.

These pictures were taken yesterday. Tomorrow is day 35 flower.

I've started heavy defoliation. I like to leave it till week 4-5 as any stress caused by this point cant do too much damage in regards to a hermy. Ill be taking around half a carrier bag of leaves from the grow daily now for a good week.

A note on the strain. I re-vegged these clones, sometimes this can have a good or bad effect on the stain IMO. These have definitely had a positive effect, the smell is insanely sweet, almost sickly sweet. The resin is a pain in the arse to get off if I accidentally rub against a plant. But the difference I'm seeing this run as opposed to the last 2 is the speed of flower. Looking at these I honestly think I could harvest at week 7. I won't be and will do my normal 9.5-10 week flower, starting the flush in around 3 weeks.

I'm not expecting baseball bat-sized colas on this grow, I've gone instead with loads of smaller heads. I believe this is the best way to make the most of a LED system designed to give full and even coverage. Exposing far more bud surface to the lights and enviroment. The buds themselves are rock solid and already falling over. with 5 weeks to go this could get all kinds of fun trying them up

So far Im of the opinion that the test bars will not only compete with the higher powered lights next to them but will beat them on aroma, resin production, and yield. Still, a long way to go...

All the lights seem to be doing a good job for you with these plants and from what I'm reading here the lesser powered latest tech light is holding its own pretty much bang on with rest, that`s really impressive. Your doing a cracking job with these Keano, much kudos to you y`as . :running-around:
