You will still need heat with lights off. Altho an oil fired radiator is 2kw its not on constantly, once they are hot they tend to cycle on and off :)
You could try a plug in power meter to see how much it was actually using over 24 hours :)

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Can you just run passive intake and reduce your extraction speed mate?
Be a shame to pack it up just yet

Hey Benjic,
You can get thermostatic switches/plugs, they are not expensive of places like ebay that will run a heater. A fan heater on low setting runs at about 800w, ive got 2 of them in my 2.4, even on low setting they they heat that tent up very quickly on the coldest of days, this means they are not on a lot of the time so you aint running at 800w 24/7.
I highly recommend a eco tech fan controller though, they are not cheap but they are worth their weight in gold. They will run the fans at lower wattages to keep heat in the tent and fire up a heater only when needed. I 100% noticed a difference in my plants growth rate and health since i started using them. you set the desired temps and humidity and this gadget does the work for you.

I havnt even got my extraction fan on yet mate, ive had to turn my intake fan off because its in my spare room i need to warm the room up to warm the tent up. I thought it would just be a bit cheaper sticking my hps in there rather then buy a oil radiator, i don't know what to man tbh. I need to act fast!GMO wrote:Can you just run passive intake and reduce your extraction speed mate?

Tbh, I think your probably right that the hps will provide heat and light.
Any way of running reduced HPS so you could run both?

Personally, I'd run the 250w and see how it does for temp. If it's manageable, get the LED fired up aswell
But FYI this is only a solution for veg. You will need to get some kind of heating sorted for flower
Keeno's suggestion is your best option imo

Ive got a smscom mk2 controller with probe, think its for a fan but you reckon it'll do the trick for a heater? Found a 500w oil rad on fleabay. TemptingKeeno wrote:Hey Benjic,

Wont work for a heater mate as it will be back to front - IE normally open contacts when cool, normally closed when hot.
