I wouldn't worry about size, no matter how experienced you are or how good a grower you perceive yourself to be.

All that matters is you're growing. That takes enough guts anyway in my opinion. People's heart and sole goes into their plants.
I agree, we do love our plants and I'm not overly worried about small buds/yield (size isn't everything, or at least that's what I keep telling myself ), but I do like to have enough to keep me fully baked until the next run. I ran out two weeks ago, so now I'm grinding up the used pucks from my rosin press - bad times. :distraught:

Oh man. That sounds better than going through early picked popcorn bud mixed with hemp flower

I am waiting for a few weeks on my next. Then I've currently had a nightmare popping more seeds. Hoping to get a nice mother going for next year.

It does sound better, doesn't it? Until you realise my pucks were mostly silver leaf or low hanging popcorn . I try not to waste good bud in my rosin press.

I have also resorted to early picked popcorn and dare I say it, flash drying :suicide:

Thanks @Momma bear and @Mr Nice, the GHO soil is working very well, as this might be the first time the lower leaves have remained green this close to harvest time.

End of week six.

The Alien OG buds are looking nice, but not huge. They are starting to show some pink/purple, which is barely visible in the photo:

According to HSC the Blueberry Muffin should be finished this Sunday, but they don''t look anywhere near to me, although 50% of the pistils are already brown. I reckon another week:

The Runtz has a way to go yet and is expressing some purple. Last time I grew this (same pheno) it was a disaster due to teething problems with new soil. The buds were not huge, but bigger than this and the plant was looking very sick, so hopefully this run will be better. Even if the buds are small, it's still one of the best strains for effects and flavour I have tried:

The Pineapple Upside Down Cake is also meant to be ready on Sunday (45 days flowering). The trichomes are mostly milky, but not many amber ones yet and it doesn't look ready to me. I reckon unless the smoke blows me away I won't be keeping this, as structurally and yield-wise it's not looking great:

hi bud honestly the flower times from the breeders are allways utter nonsense and if you lucky add 2 weeks to there times and you be somewhere near mature, ime the so called 8 week strains take 11 weeks for fully mature bud, this has been the story as long as ive been growing over 40 yrs and i take all breeder info with a pinch of salt now and just tend to try be patient and wait till there clearly mature not some breeders blurb designed to increase sales, looking good though and sure to be worth a bit of extra time, peace

Cheers duke, normally I don't pay too much attention and harvest when they look ready, but HSC reckon their Blueberry Muffin is very stable without much variance in phenotypes and from other BM grows I've seen on Growdiaries a lot of the growers reckon it's bang on 45 days or a little more. I emailed HSC about defoliation and flowering times, to which they responded a couple of days later with this:

"Both strains should be fine with light defoliation. We have found that sometimes both of these strains may need a bit longer than 45 days to finish"

...so that gives me some hope. Hardly any amber trichomes yet, but most of the pistils are brown, so I'll give it another week or so.
