The cool weather is a blessing atm. The numbers up there are just in range, I prefer much cooler but this is liveable. Be fooked if id be firing up an aircon unit.

I'll be having a crack at these grove bags people have been using and get a review done. I normally use smelly-proof bags anyway.

Day 7 drying.

12 hours in bags had them at 66% humidity. This will have drawn out some of the moisture from the bigger buds. Back on racks today for 12 hours, Il bet my hat they will be sat at 58-62%. Then it's time to weigh up . I've been blessed by the weather this week, drying has been at a steady 20c, humidity 60-65%, and it's now dropped to 52-55%, I couldn't have made that a more perfect recipe for the day/time of drying.

Um trying to not get excited... I know the normal amount of a 60cm rack that's full of dried bud, there's 6 of them full, more than last time . Weigh in coming soon

Update - Weigh In

Wassup GR420. The bud was in large smell proof bags overnight to see if the correct humidity had been reached to begin the curing process. All bags are reading 58-63%. So its time for the weigh-in.

ISH 650 F - 650w

4 plants in a 1.2 x 1.2m area = 876g, 31 rounded down.
876g under 650w = 1..35 gram per watt.
7.75oz per plant average.

720w prototype F bars

4 plants in a 1.2 x 1.2m area = 932g, 33oz rounded down.
932g under 720w = 1.30 grams per watt.
8.25oz per plant average.

ISH X Bar - 150w Versions (300w total)

4 plants in a 1.2 x 1.2 area = 818g, 29oz rounded down.
818g under 300w = 2.73 gram per watt.
7.25oz per plant average.

Total grow area:

12 plants in 3.6 x 1.2 area = 2626g, 93.8oz.
2626g under 1670w = 1.57 gram per watt.
7.82oz per plant average.

Now imagine the energy saving if all 12 plants were under only X bars as per the above numbers.


I'm gutted about that last one, I was sure it had broken the 3 gram per watt again by the look of it drying. It's a good result for watt but not what I was aiming for. The 60cm drying racks hold around 20oz per rack or dry material, there was 6 of them, I thought id smashed the last run lol. But none to shabby and Im now kitted out with oil for a year or 2 between this and the last grow.


So to sum up the weigh in. I think this is a good example of x strain hitting a wall per area/light output. This is the 2nd time I've run in this setup, 4th under 1 of the LED grow lights. The pattern I'm seeing is if your grow is dialed in, you are providing enough light, feed, and strains start to top out per area. An example would be the 720w light I've used the longest, I've grown the critical under it in clone form 4 times now and the numbers have been:

33oz
34oz
33oz

All from 4 plants in a 1.2 x 1.2m area.

I've seen this pattern in the past with other clones under the same lights. The important thing to take away from this is the phrase enough light. As I've now tested twice using the ISH X Bars, you can hit the numbers of much higher wattage lights with lowers watts, but more importantly, I don't think I could hit more than 33 on average with this strain in that area. The 300w light has been in that range, when you factor in it's been up against a 720w twice, then a 650w, that's some impressive numbers.

This past grows have been to test and have now shown you can indeed grow with a lot less power than the numbers we all deem to be standard. They have shown that enough light is needed, and that enough light is less than I thought per area by far.

These lights are expensive, but given the rising cost of energy, they just went from being a posh toy for growers wanting to grow efficiently, to a cost-effective tool for growers needing to grow more efficiently.

The plan was to move to a different sized area, but I'm not happy with that gpw on the X Bar, the last run with the same clone was 3.08. Critical isn't a big yielder in the way the Luton Cheese is or others. I think it's time to break out one of the big boys and try to push that gram per watt :Viking:.

To sum it all up... The X Bar is a beast of light without the need for beast power. The light is more than capable of producing the same amounts of very good quality lights over twice its power. The plants are healthier under the less intense but right amounts of light. Insane numbers are possible grams per watt. In a world where energy costs are soaring, these lights tick a lot of boxes for me.

It's done in a bowl trimmer with a fuck what it looks like attitude . It's all going to oil anyway so im pretty rough and it all gets rushed. If I wanted pretty buds id have given up halfway through.

That was the last big run anyway. The plan was ahead by a year in rso, in that tike Boris has upped the leccy prices and will continue to do so. Finally built my dream groom after 12 years of growing and it's now mad many to run. I'll be growing but that big old scrog will be retired. I am determined to get more out of these X Bars though.

A note on the smell, I opened the bags for the first time this morning to check if RH was in range. I was greeted by that skunky dog shit pong already, normally takes a good 2 weeks to start getting that wiff. It lingered to the point I kept getting hints of it upstairs and my first thought went to, "the dogs shit again", then i remembered, its the weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

Cheers mate. Gutted it was less than the last run and I won't be doing the whole scrog again. But the lights all done well.

The X Bar has more diodes on it. Running the same power through more diodes runs them more efficiently, I believe they actually produce more useable light, they also last longer for obvious reasons. Invis will know all the science when he pops in.

Those are some impressive results from all those lights, x bars smashed it though in gram per watt, amazing how far the technology has come
