Done a bit of research and it seems most people class day 1 of flower when they flip to 12/12. If that’s the case they will be 3 weeks into flower tomorrow. Think I’ll just start using the bloom nutrients tomorrow anyway before they start showing deficiencies!

Yeah that old chesnut lol.

The breeders start counting from when they see pistils. This is certainly the case for auto's, as they won't be changing the light hours in testing.
This is the reason for why some people say go 2-3 weeks past the advertised flowering times.

I would say do what suits you and find your own way of doing things and whatever works best for you. I think that is something that comes naturally as your growing style develops.

Good idea about the smallest to the tallest in order for the plants. This actually increases the area of the canopy theoretically which is something I never thought of before.

I have seen PaulLED do this in their grows.

Yeah I’m just calling it somewhere in between 2/3 weeks! I’ll be going by the trichomes at the end before harvest anyway it was just to follow the plant magic nutrient schedule and start bloom nutes 2 weeks in.

The more I thought about it though the more unsure I was when to count from haha. There’s not really a clear answer, kind of like asking how long is a piece of string. Everybody has there own method!

Just looking at those I'd say you were at least 2 weeks in.

I know Keeno piles his bloom nutes from day one of light flip anyway.

Day 23 of flower ( going from when I seen signs of flower)

Think I’ve got a really frosty black sugar pheno on my hands. I suppose that’s where the sugar part comes from! Think I’m onto a winner with her for sure.

Rest are doing well. Onto bloom nutes now, just been feeding nutes then water then nutes and so on every 2 days or so. Think letting the soil dry out quite a bit before feeding again is working well for me. Been worried about salt build up in these small pots but so far so good! Exited to see how they perform using the plant magic Oldtimer range. Will just be using bloom now and keeping it simple I think. Less chance of mucking things up! Image

Thought I’d snap a shot of them when the lights went off. Starting to stack up nicely and looking really nice and green they smell but nothing major, haven’t even had my extraction on but won’t be long before it’s required, just penny pinching atm Image

Re: First proper photoperiod grow!! SoG

Post by HaydenR4238 »

Start of week 4 today so about half way there! I’ve actually been really heavy on the nutrients I think. Noticed quite a lot of bottom stuff dying off so I’ve been flushing them with 6.7pH water since the start of the week. Been using full strength at least 2x a week sometimes 3x. Should have been feeding half strength 2x a week imo. So will be starting to do that after 1 more flush.

Should the flushing period at the end of flower be shorter/longer in smaller pots? I can’t say it’s something I’ve done in the past really but I’d like to try flushing them this time. I see variations of mostly 1-2weeks. But I feel like with it being a 1gal pot, I won’t have to flush as long as you would 3 or 5gal.

I think I’ll do about a week flush at the end. 2 weeks seems like too long without food in small pots at a critical stage Image

It's my understanding that when you flip to 12/12 the plants go into a transitional period where you should feed slightly more flower food and slightly less veg food. Then when you start seeing pistils, that's when you start the flower count and feeds. Different things work for different people and different plants but either way... Yours are looking lovely right now. GG Growmie 😎👌

See I wasn’t 100% on what I was doing at that stage. I just stuck with the schedule and kept feeding Grow nutes 2 weeks after the flip. By that time they were showing signs of flower and had all but finished stretching and that’s when I started Bloom nutes and counting days of flower. So about 6 weeks since the flip and 4 weeks of flower.

The thing that I didn’t realise is when the schedule states 4ml/L, that must be for the whole week? I was feeding 3ml/L at least 2x a week when it should of been more like 1.5ml/L 2x a week, so I think anyway

Going to be doing 2ml/L bloom 2x a week for the next 2 and see how i get on with that. I suppose it’s the only way to really find out! Image
