Re: Chiesel grow diary
No, 5 of them were in fresh coco , only 1 of them was in a pot of old coco and that's the was showing the deficiency at early age mate. I did not use any great white shark or charge when i first moved them in coco.
No worries mate I am always happy to answer questions as long as I have an answer lol.

Cheers Bulls. Issues like that are what peeks my interest :) here's my theory on what happened.Bulls wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 9:47 amNo, 5 of them were in fresh coco , only 1 of them was in a pot of old coco and that's the was showing the deficiency at early age mate. The wilting was probably caused by anerobic bacteria buildup due to the old plant material breaking down in the coco. Probably took out the root hairs what in turn hindered the ability for the plant to take up water.
Coco has a high CEC. I'm guessing the old coco was from a plant that went through a complete cycle? If that is the case I'm also guessing the last plant was flushed hevily? That peobably washed all the Mg away as well as the Ca and Fe. If you're using tap water and in a hard area, your tap water probably has high levels of Ca and next to 0 Mg. I'm guessing that lead to the Mg def after the wilt because the coco was leaching all the Mg. Ca would of been present in the tap water and Fe is only needed in tiny amounts. Especially if you're using a bottled nutrient from the hydro store as they use chelated Fe. Someone told me once that the secret to a lot of these expensive nutrients is the chelated red Fe that goes into them. It can buffer all sorts of issues.
Once again, thanks for answering my questions. It's always nice to try and understand these types of problems. Thanks for entertaining me Bulls.

Re: Chiesel grow diary
You do have some knowledge for a first time grower buddy
. In my honest opinion the wilting was purely and entirely because of fhe transaction from very high to very low humidity
What made me think that? Simple. After I added these 6 plants in the propagator they recovered withing few hours while plant N7 which I left ourside the propagator never did. It died.
The plant in the old coco - no, it wasn't a full cycle. I had a vegging plant for couple of weeks in that pot which I binned few weeks ago. Not very well established roots and no pot wasn't flushed.

Re: Chiesel grow diary
Lol I've been taking it all in ;) if that's the case I'm not sure why the Magnesium deficiency occurred. The thing is plants don't acclimatise to humidity like that as far as I'm aware. And I don't think such a severe and fast onset of wilt would be caused by an environmental change. If they did, all cuttings would wilt like that when you pulled the lid off. Maybe a little wilt but those babies were proper folded over. I've seen examples online of wilt like that but mostly because the lid was pulled off while the cutting was in it's callus stage and no established roots were available to take up water. I'm bamboozled TBF :) I'll have to consult my friend. He's an expert at these types of issues. He has a BSc in plant science. I'll let you know what he thinks if you're interested. Anyway, I feel like I've hijacked your thread :) I'll shut up now and enjoy the diary.Bulls wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 10:24 amYou do have some knowledge for a first time grower buddy. Re: Chiesel grow diary
That's why I run my diaries, so we can talk about and discuss problems and all sorts. I prefer it than the usual "Looks good mate".
I think it might be strain related or something completely different - I don't really know. All i know is bringing them back under the dome sorted the problem out and then next day when I tried to remove it it happened again, so I had to slowly open up the dome in stages for them to adapt to the less humidity environment.
Here are a few photos of them from the other day, when I was potting them up. I will try and use my Canon camera to take photos as much as possible despite it's way slower than doing it directly from the phone.

Re: Chiesel grow diary
Not that I'm any sort of expert, isn't it similar to hardening off plants from the greenhouse into a cold frame before planting outside? ie less shock from environmental change.
Looks like you've got it under control bud, if you can't sort it....
