im in vador,i think if it goes smoothly then nft will be slightly faster and yield 10% more average in theory should win,but coco i find easier to keep stable growth,i think my grow area is too cold for water hydro,that and im dangerous with large amounts of water! i fell over and broke a 250ltr res tank,tsunami in a loft is not good.
subbed if i can recall the how!peace

Ill get some photos this weekend but im really seeing a big difference in them at the moment, the rockwool one is looking much happier, they have all had the same treatment the only difference is media.
This weekend ill get them potted up as well and let them start developing a root system.

Yeah know what you mean with all the water though, got to be very careful

Thanks guys, been a busy few days and haven’t had much time for gardening. Got an nft tank out of the loft ready for cleaning, also got some coco blocks to soak but need to clean containers first. Got to mix some nutes too so will get all that done tonight, tomorrow ill get everything potted up and get some photos at the same time.

Got a thrip invasion which ive been trying to keep away from these but it didn’t work, sprayed the plants with some fairy liquid water but they didn’t like it and withered up a bit, gone back to foliar spray now to try and revive them.
These thrips are the bane of my life

Formulex = 1ml/L
calmag = 1ml/L

P.H = 5.8

Light = Invisible Sun V bar (150w) @25% (37w)

3 weeks in and there is a noticeable difference, to begin with if you look at the very first photo you'll see I put the smallest one in the rock wool, the other two had opened up and were looking at the light, the rock wool one is still bent over.
Image

Now look at this side shot, the rock wool is clearly bigger.
Image

Top down really tells a tale. suffering with thrips at the moment and made the plants suffer so they aren't looking great so please ignore that.
Image

These are what the roots look like in rock wool
Image

For anyone wondering how it works, you have a pump that sits in a tray of nutrients, also a good idea too have an airstone in there too
Image

The nutrient solution is pumped up from the reservoir and comes out the little nozzle on the left and runs down the incline to the right and back into the res. on top of the tray you have spreader mat that helps the roots to spread.
Image

Thats her in the tank, will just hand feed for now, it would be wasteful to fill the res at this stage.
Image

Thats the two in coco, they have been watered in with a calmag/ formulex solution.

Quick update: i filled the res of the nft tank with 15L of the formulex solution, the spreader mat was drying out quicker than i would like, pump is set to come on for 15 minutes every couple of hours.
