ive never bothered with the ph before, we live and learnMafooFarms wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 4:29 pmYa GF I use general hydroponics acid to lower my pH. The water out of my tap is around 8.5-8.7 as well. Crazy alkaline.
I seen people use lemon juice, white vinegar, or even powdered citric acid if you dont have any string hydro acid around.
Just use your pH pen. You know. Add a mL, stir, wait 60 seconds, dunk the meter in.
Also i dont know if this is true or not, but I seem to remember being taught that the pH meter should be moved about to get an accurate reading. Like dont just dunk it in still water. Stir it about a bit.
Good luck mate

Re: Testing soil PH
Do you let the water sit or just straight from tap to soil? Ive never phd soil at all as it can fuck with the microbes but i see you are having issues unfortunately

Re: Testing soil PH
I’ve just tested the water with feed in and it’s got a ph of 6 .4
So do I just need to adjust when I’m only feeding water ? 🥸

Re: Testing soil PH
Check out manganese deficiency.. not super common and often misdiagnosed. Whats the iron levels in the feed you use?

Total Nitrogen 3.0%
Phosphorous Pentoxide (P2O5) 5.0 (2.2%P)
Phosphorous Pentoxide (P2O5) soluble in water 5.0(2.2%P)
Potassium oxide (K2O) 4.0 (3.3%K)
Iron (Fe) chelated by EDTA soluble in water 0.03%
hope that helps mate and thanks

Re: Testing soil PH
Before 100% going gun hoe and listening to me id wait and hear from some others. But im leaning towards it being too alkaline for iron uptake or back to the manganese issue. Id foliar spray with something high in Iron to start, but there again if its manganese higher iron is part of the issue
So im torn.. where is @GMO

Re: Testing soil PH
Yep, has to be higher 7 for good iron uptake. 7 8 and beyond it tapers to almost nothing.
This is for soil though!
