Police have smashed a drugs operation and arrested five people after a dawn raid at a 32,000sq ft warehouse uncovered cannabis plants worth £1million.

Hundreds of plants were found growing at a makeshift factory in Charlton, south-east London, on Wednesday.

Metropolitan Police say the plants could have been worth between £800,000 and £1million if they had been sold on the streets of London.
