I'm setting up things to start mid August. Figure veg to Oct 1st & Flip. Finish before or near Christmas. I'll update this when I drop the beans (or if I forgot something).
Grow space: is a 4' x 4' x 80” tall tent (Vivosun) in spare bedroom.
Lighting: is from Horticulture Lighting Group. I have two of their “kit” lights. A 260 watt and a 135 watt R-spec. Actual combined wattage from the wall is 400 watts during peak flower.
Environment: I have a 46” tall oscillating tower fan for circulation. There is a small, square computer fan up top, above the lights to help with cooling and the keep from having any “dead” spots. I have a 4” AC Infinity inline exhaust fan with a Controller 67. The Controller 67 on my exhaust fan allows me to steer the tent environment to proper VPD numbers. The 4” carbon filter is from Phresh. The exhaust vents to outdoors. The air intake is passive. I use a humidifier or dehumidifier in my lung room (bedroom) as needed. I can also regulate the amount of air into the lung room from my home's central heat/air system to further control temperature.
Grow method: is Hempy Bucket. I use Perlite only in bottom 2” (up to drain hole) and then a 4:1 mixture of Perlite to vermiculite. There is a top cover of expanded clay pellets. This grow will use five each 3.5 gallon buckets.
Nutrients: are Advanced Nutrients base (Micro, Grow, Bloom) and Bud Candy, Big Bud, Overdrive and Rhino Skin. I'm also using CalMag Plus and Hydroguard. I add microbes with Recharge and Mammoth P. My water is reverse osmosis filtered. I don't check or adjust ph when using the AN line. I do monitor EC (PPM) and I also adjust the temperature of solution (68 F) before adding.
IPM: I don't have much in the way of IPM since I use inert medium and bugs/pests haven't been an issue. That being said I do use yellow & blue sticky traps as an early warning system. I am careful to not wear clothes that I have on doing outdoor yard work, gardening etc when I go into my tent. I also will pull plants from the tent once a week (until they get too big) and water/feed at the sink. While they are out I do a thorough visual inspection of the plants. I do have a few items, on hand, for pests if the need arises. Lost Coast Plant Therapy and mosquito bits and suitable sprayers for each. So far they have gone unused.
Genetics: for this run are all feminized:
Two each Midnight Moonlight from Lovin In Her Eyes
Two each White Wedding from Ethos Genetics
One Each Zsweet Inzanity From Ethos Genetics
After the last harvest I emptied the tent of everything except the inline fan and filter. Everything got wiped down twice with Clorox Bleach wipes and allowed to air dry. Lights and fan were cleaned as thorough as possible.
Perlite, vermiculite and expanded clay balls were all thoroughly rinsed to remove dust, etc. If they don't get all the crap rinsed out it can build up sludge in the bottom of the buckets.
Seeds are soaked overnight in room temperature tap water. Next morning they get transferred to paper towels and soaked with a water/Recharge mix. Once the tap roots were 1/4” or more they get transferred to a Rapid Rooter plug and inserted into the buckets to wait of sprouting.
Lights are dimmed down to 150 watts until the first set of true leaves appears. The buckets are watered by hand around the plugs for approximately 10 days once they have sprouted. Figuring the tap root has the the bottom of the bucket I start watering with an amount equal to the volume of the bottom 2” (reservoir) of the buckets. I will initially water/feed about every four days. I will try for 10-20% runoff and as the plants grow I'll need to water/feed every third day, and eventually every other day. I will feed every watering for about two weeks then give them plain water for a cycle to freshen things up. During veg I'll keep lights to around 250 watts then bring them up to 400 watts once I flip to flower.
I will start off feeding with a PPM of about 500-600 (.7 to .8 EC) and will ramp up over the first 4 weeks to about 1000 / 1200 PPM (1.4 to 1.7 EC). I'm flexible about these numbers since some cultivars respond differently.
