I dont know much about much but from a noobs eyes they look good maybe some of that stuff people use to boost the roots up incase of that rot stuff and what not ?

Up top looks save able.... get cuts quick lol sorry tho i am a noob
Hey Dex,

Thanks for the reply! They're fine now buddy, growing well. The roots look a litttle red because they're stained from the red iron in the nutes and the fulvic additives. Plants in hydro don't grow massive roots as everything is available to them immediately.

Hopefully they continue on that trajectory :)
Finger crossed and toes buddy hope the burst out with growth in no time

Hey man ✌ in a recirculation system, if EC drops and water level drops, you're good to go
I'll post a helpful chart I used for dwc. I know you're aero but I'm sure it still applies
I'd be pretty interested in your DWC chart - looking for all the info I can get as just about to try my hand with full on RDWC.

Also if anyone needs a quick and dirty DIY Humidifier a couple of these in a bucket of water with a PC cooling fan works a treat.

Good luck with this, hope you don't mind if I park up and tag along.
Welcome along MintyMods, I did have a flick through your github projects. Nice work with the automated set up ! V.inpressive.

Awesome, thanks for sharing integrajosh! According to, I'm now in the perfect zone. PH is static but the EC drops as well as does the water level. The water consumption the last few days have been crazy considering the size. I've just had to top up with another 10ltr of water.

It's completely different growing in this to soil. Small adjustments make massive differences and things change quick! I'm picking things up though. I think a lot of information online is geared towards hard water setups? I've read lots of things online suggesting 1.3EC is fine. There was some other thread that looked like the guy had similar symptoms and the conclusion was VPD. My room was hot and the humidity was around 35% but I put a humidifier in the room before all this started. The other thing that made me think it could of been is now they're larger, there will be more humidity around the plants. Maybe it was a combo of low EC and VPD? We shall see :)

Thanks, still very much a work in progress and I know absolutely nothing about Hydroponics (nor Arduino when I started) but it's all good fun and to be honest when it is mostly a hobby it becomes even more consuming...

@integrajosh That chart is awesome, I never considered the possibility of say too much CO2 being pumped into the water!

I reckon most of that chart could be converted/automated into a 'truth table' algorithm within my software as my current hardware setup monitors water levels, EC and PH and can technically adjust each on demand as well as easy res changes - so my app could automatically try to adjust or at least advise on possible reasons for the changes etc. This would make a real useful addition to the software side for me at least.

Thanks Both.

Ya bro, I've found recently that vpd plays a huuuuuge role in how happy the plants are. If it's hot you really have to make sure your humidity is around 65-70% in veg and first couple weeks flower.
Otherwise it will be transpiring a lot of water, working harder than she needs to really

This is what I follow now, growth was phenomenal this run. I do also run co2 though
But that doesn't matter if the environment isn't close to perfect
But I wouldn't go quite that warm if you don't supplement co2 ImageImageImage

Just a little update, after adjusting things a little, looks like they're happy :) Drinking betweek 5-7ltr every 24 hours, PH is stable and the EC just keeps dropping around 150ppm everyday. Checked my meters again this morning to 100% check it's not them drifting but all is well.

This morning they're all standing to attention and have grown quite a bit overnight. Hopefully I can keep it up. One thing I'm going to change after this grow is make this system into a 26 pot setup and run a sea of green. I think I could get this turning over bud every 10 weeks like that and it seems to suit the style better. Will update in another diary coming soon.

Two days difference.

Just another little update, I spoke to my friend that is a bit of a bod with hydroponics and this is what he thinks what happened.

1) the plants were not at the same stage of growth when they were transplanted.

2) My EC was way too high for the younger plants but the older one could tolerate it because it was a out 10 days ahead. This caused some N toxicity to occur. The micros were probably all due to the same thing, lockout.

3) I dropped my EC too quickly while they were pissed about the lockout. That on top of my VPD issues probably caused osmotic shock and pushed things over the edge.

4) They acclimatised to the EC and environment and started to react positively to the conditions and the minor change to the humidity.

5) I still have N toxicity and sbould drop the EC a little.

He said it was a classic noob mistake :) It's just an opinion I suppose but rings true in my head. What are your thoughts guys?
