Nutrients

Post by Hydro Urban »

Hi guys,

So obviously we are the newest sponsor of GR420 which is a huge privilege - We are a grow shop based in Northamptonshire but post all over Europe.

What I wanted to start a discussion about is what everyone's favourite nutrient lines are!

Personally I absolutely love the powdered ranges (Athena currently) as long as you give them a little NPK boost in later stages they work out super cost efficient and really pull in great results!

What nutrient lines have you guys tried and tested? Has anyone ever done a side by side?

I have been a solid believer in canna for over 10 years . I started using canna Flores when I started out in soil and when I moved over to coco it was canna coco a and b ,
I have total confidence in their nutes and pretty much can eye ball the amounts and know the exact ec I’m going to achieve

I've used shogun ,bio bizz , Dutch pro , ghe trio I've been using canna for a couple of years they all work well . I've never used powdered nutrients as I've never found the price of liquid nutrients prohibitive. And welcome to the forum

I was on the Canna Coco range for many years. @GHO came up with a 1 bottle line that I've been tested for a couple years, might be worth a chat with him as it's real good stuff.

I've not tried the Athena stuff but have heard very good things.

Cheers pal, Canna is a brand that has been around for years and like you say it is tried and tested, have you had different results with different nutrients at all? Personally I think its mainly down to personal preference and if you get the basics right you are going to do well... I just find using floraflex to be super clean it never clogged the drippers up!

I think you are spot on, different styles and what suits. Thats the beauty of this hobby, even if 2 growers are doing the same system/medium, same lights, and tents, they will be doing it slightly differently.

Another grower talk to was saying how clean floraflex is, he highly recommeneded it.

I've tried a few different brands over the years. In soil biobizz and plant magic, I had more success with old timers. In coco I tried loads, Adnvanced Nutrients was my go to for a bit, then I found Canna Coco. Differences I noticed in the soil was the Oldtimers was easier to use, and seemed to produce better results. In coco the advanced stuff was ok, but issues were more often than the Canna I ended up on. The Canna was simple and less mess ups meant better results and more regular. Moving to the stuff ive been playing with of late increased resin and terps by a long way and is very simple to use being 1 part feed. Ive grown clones for many years, so not side by side tests, well did with the Canna and the new product, but mostly I do all clones of the same plant with same feed. But I've definitely seen the difference between grows with the same clone used again.

I often think about things like this, like me in soil with Biobizz, in my head it wasnt my favourite, but that was 12+ years ago, maybe I didn't know what I know now, so I should go back and try all these things again at some point, if that makes sense. Many times a grower will have a bad experience with something, and blame the product, but in truth many times we just didnt know or use it properly, or it didnt suit what we were doing at the time. That doesn't mean it wouldnt suit what we do now.

I use Canna A+B now, used to use Dutch Pro but my water was different then, Canna just didn't like the hard water and now I;m back to a soft water area, I'm back on Canna.

In batmix/dirt I love the Plagron line, the Algae bloom and their Green Sensation are cracking.

You'll have success whatever you use, as long as you drop enough farts in the tent when you check on the plants.

@Keeno I’m gonna have to hit up @GHO that sounds like a nice simple line, I have cousins up north that have water with such a small alkalinity scale they can’t seem to use anything but PH perfect or they end up with something resembling a cabbage 😂

@Marcus i have to say I actually use green sensation on my back garden and since we have the roses literally flower for months on end, it is top quality stuff👌

Good topic this :coco: I have used canna before but now I'm using mainly BAC grow and bloom with some Biobizz TopMax for extra fulvic/humic. I am planning to try out The End from @GHO on the next run, just for the veg stage. BAC isn't a popular brand in the UK, I don't know anyone else that uses it but I seem to have good results with it :idn:

I used canna and I'm in hard water 0.6ec out the tap. When I get to flower that's when I start to see all sorts of issues. So I'm wondering whether that's half my problem. However I've adjusted a couple of other factors on this run so I'll see what comes. Thanks for sharing that small point, however I've got like 10l of canna a and b to get through so I'm not changing anytime soon haha
