Basically the tool your using is in us/cm (1400) and the ones lets say that we are used too measure in ms/cm (1.4ec) both are EC, same but different really. That's what i get from reading about and chart below anyhow.

Yes shoot for 1.0ec in total that's right tis what i do nowadays anyhow . Tis summink to with calcium carbonate in your background tap water EC being useless and unusable by roots. @duke knows more on this he put me right with it all time back now.
