Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
Four days since flip to 12/12. These are now getting two feeds daily at EC 1.5, pH 6.0, still on grow food, switching to bloom food in a couple of days. I did a light defoliation to uncover some growing tips and allow better circulation, and it's nearly all grown back. Unicorn Pop Drops has brown leaf tips suggesting nutrient burn but the other plants look like they need more food so a bit tricky to manage. I did increase the EC above 1.5 for a few days which could be why but now it's back to 1.5 and they all look OK.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
I wouldn`t sweat it on tips being a little dodgy personally speaking Sy, but if your wanting to feed 1.5ec or above for the lot, then just give ferts to the one that's got dodgy tips one feed daily and others x2. Basically they are getting a lot more of a constant 1.5ec by doubling up cus your replenishing coco with the 1.5ec every 12 hours, where as if you left the dodgy one @ once daily the different elements within the ferts in your medium dont get replenished so much and they will become depleted much quicker and believe these plants bosh it down.
Maybe it sounds better put this way feck knows. Even though you would be feeding both 1.5ec to start your actually feeding a lot less of a constant EC by giving once daily feeds over that of x2 daily, cus your replenishing medium with a fresh 1.5ec every 12hours but the other medium on one feed a day, well the coco may only be running around 0.8ec by this time and maybe very much on its way to becoming depleted of lets say N as an example where as other is brand new full of N or any other element of fert plants gobbling down that could possibly be causing tip burn basically.
I hope that makes sense

Thanks @2-Scoops, makes sense but the one with burnt tips is actually drinking a lot more than the others so I think it needs the same two feeds per day at lower EC. I suppose I could have separate tanks or hand water the thirsty, less hungry one but I want an easy life so probably best not sweating it unless it becomes a problem.

Most of the time they grow into the higher feed, pain in the arse these multi strain grows, one of the only draw backs with coco. If she's still not happy in a week bang the light up to full whack if its dimmed, if its on full whack then I'd lower it. Its mad how much these leds make the plants eat compared to hid lighting. The extra light intensity will have her eating more food in no time.

Cheers Keeno, yes, they sure are a pain. I'm still strain hunting and once I find two I like that grow about the same rate I'll stop this malarkey, until I get bored again.Keeno wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 11:44 pmMost of the time they grow into the higher feed, pain in the arse these multi strain grows, one of the only draw backs with coco. LEDs went up from 50% to 75% a few days ago (they were only on 25% in veg and did not need more), as well as increasing EC to 1.8 after seeing some fade under brighter spots and they are now showing minor signs of LED burn, so lights are back down to 50% and will see how they fare for a few days before turning them back up. I also burnt the plants at the back with my new oil filled rad trying to maintain temps, so invested in a fan controller, hoping it will allow me to lower the thermostat on the rad while keeping temps up due to warm air not being sucked out as much by the extractor during veg/early bloom.
I think humidity is the biggest issue in my place, always above 80 during winter, even with two dehumidifiers running 24/7. Been on and on to the managing agents about it for years and they do f-all.

I just discovered from the person I got the so-called Triangle Mints clone off whose mate never labels plants that it's actually Ice Cream Cake, not Triangle Mints. I quite like ICC but TM is what I really wanted.

Weekly update time. Thanks to all again for all the kind comments and for looking.
Almost end of week two in bloom, they look pretty happy now on EC.1.9, pH 6.1 on two feeds per day with adequate run-off but a few early warning signs of LED burn - browning and fading leaf tips, blotchy, pale leaves, so dimmed the light back down to 50% and they are looking a bit better.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
I trimmed most of what was under the canopy, not getting light, mainly to try to improve airflow and decrease humidity, which is always an issue in my place. A lot of the plants at the back have been burnt due to being near the new oil-filled rad I had to buy to maintain temps, so to combat that I bought a pre-owned fan speed controller with temperature & light probes and it's doing the trick. It means I can have my rad on a lower setting due to the extractor fan running at lower speeds, sucking less warm air out (max flow being less important during veg) while still maintaining some airflow. It keeps the tent at an ideal constant temp while hopefully saving some money due to heater and fan running on lower power, and the plants are no longer burning. Money well spent I reckon! Was thinking it might help to have the rad next to the air intake to draw in warm air as it passes over the rad but that's where my feed pipe enters so not enough room.
I also put an extra net in for support. The Zkitzo is stretchy as f. I also upped feed schedule to 3 times per day.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
Two cuttings from each plant rooted successfully in 10 days but I binned the Ice Cream Cake after discovering it wasn't Triangle Mints, so keeping the two Unicorn Pop Drops (three if the other roots) alive and also took four cuttings (on the right) from a Rainbow Candy (Grower's Choice) I grew from seed and gave to a friend. As you may see, it's a vigorous beast with very fat stems. It's completely dominating my friend's tent, outgrowing three other strains and smelling pungently fruity already. Could be a keeper!
