Respiratory side effects from inhaling cannabis smoke may be ameliorated by both cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid components in cannabis. For instance, throat irritation may be diminished by anti-inflammatory agents, mutagens in the smoke may be mitigated by antimutagens, and bacterial contaminants in cannabis may be annulled by antibiotic compounds (McPartland and Pruitt

The investigation of CBD by marijuana researchers is rather paradoxical, considering its concentrations are notably lower in drug varieties of
cannabis than in fiber cultivars (Turner et al. 1980).
