Thought I'd come back today and confirm all four original cuttings have finally rooted. I still have replacements rooting, but it seems as if they were just very slow. I wonder if its something I did or maybe the age of the plant. I'll see how these replacements do. Even if they do root faster, I won't know for sure I suppose, but if they also take longer than normal, maybe its a strain specific thing?

BTW. I also realise that I haven't given any update about the plants  Too busy moaning about my slow cuttings.

This plant seems to be Ca hungry. The environmental conditions wasn't ideal (a little cold) and the plant was a little root bound, but at 130PPM of Ca, she was showing early signs of Ca deficiency. Definitely something to watch out for with this cultivar.

Smells atm are quite pungent. It's all gas gas gas. Smells like diesel fuel and a bit acrid.

The other thing to note about this cultivar is it has very long bracts. Much longer than I've seen in a while. That trait is indicative of those older Dutch strains. Not sure what the origin would be, bit it's something I used to see many years ago, but not so much in the last few years since everything seems to be crossed with these US hybrids.

Seems we both got cutting problems Seymour. I need to invest in a heat mat me thinks for Winter months. I'm letting mine dry out in pots now before they start back on ferts, hopefully it will kick those roots to life to start taking up ferts. They are sat on 100watt tube heater. :roll eyes: I'm sure you`ll sort them out mate. 8-)

Hey GR420,

A very short and sweet update. So, the second lot of cuts I've taken are also incredibly slow! Did the exact same thing, caylax start to form as I can see the base swell up, but then they sit there doing naff all for days. The shit thing is that they take so long, it's a bit touch and go with the preexisting material. Tissue dying a little too much before the roots form and they struggle to get going. Once they're rooted, they seem to be fine. Here's the first lot I took.

Image

Roots look good too although the pump is a little strong.

So, atm, I'm under the impression that it's a plant that doesn't like to be cloned? Maybe I'll run another lot in a few weeks and check it's not the age of the plant or anything.

Hello GR420,

A little update on these. I've moved them into the main room. I had a small hiccup with these. I was busy doing Christmas and didn't top up the little tank for a few days. I noticed one looked a bit rough, so checked and there was not enough water to allow the pump to work! It had turned into soup with a stupid high EC and the only reason they were still alive was because the roots had reached the water and were wicking up the salty brine at the bottom

Anyways, I moved them into the larger tent and I've given them a 80% strength solution. This gives me an EC of 1.4EC. I'll keep an eye on them over thr next week or so. I've seen the odd spot on the older leaves, so looks like Ca is creeping in, but I'll let them go a week before adding anything to compensate.

Other than that, they're doing well.

Those cutts are flying like good ens now Seymour. Like you mention bloody cold doesn`t help this time of year, bloody slows them to a crawl if it gets them a bit.

Sorry all, been super busy recently and haven't logged in for a while. Some interesting developments have happened in that time that I'll post about later if I get some time.

These nearly died! The magnetic barrel came away from the spindle within the pump and they didn't receive water for at least 8 hours. When I discovered the issue, they had wilted so much I was going to bin them. TBH, if I wasn't so lazy they would have been in the bin, but I replaced the pump with a spare I had and went off to cry about it. The next morning they had kind of recovered but over the next few days they shed a lot of leaf. Anyway, they still kicking and are in flower.

The room has a couple of upgrades too! I've implemented a water chiller and PH dosing machine.

Yes I think I was licku @2-Scoops. The nutrient ragime seems to be working. I've sent off a secondary analysis and have been in touch with Terra Aquatica to confirm a few things.

I've discovered that Cannabis seems to be super sensitive to Mn toxicity. Anything over 2.5mg/L and things get a bit funky. 3mg/L and most things will start to burn and show signs of Ca, S and Fe deficiencies. Some cultivars seem to be more affected than others. For that reason I had to have a rejig of the recipe to reduce the levels of Mn as they were reaching 2.5mg/L if I would add 2.2ml/L of micro. Its a little stronger than the guarenteed analysis suggests.

What supprised me is that the lucas formula requires you to add 4.2ml/L of micro! That would put the Mn levels to ~4mg/L! Would almost certainly cause some uptake issues.
