I think you're right, upping the ferts and cutting the cal-mag completely makes my plants very happy - there's def no def now. You might be thinking of Synergist rather than Photonic.2-Scoops wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:08 pmIts a waste of money if you have decent ferts that contain it, but im not sure about the 1 part ferts, usually though its just a case of upping A&B for me if i see owt that looks like cal or mag def or any other dfef for that matter mate. Check back of your bottle but they should have calcium in, but yes that photonic i think has it in anyhow.

Testing the primitive but effective automated drip system. I didn't get the timing quite right at first hence the minimal run-off in the first video - since adjusted to 1 minute 30 seconds - which seems to be the sweet spot for now. I can't take credit for the drippers as It's my mate's idea, that being that dripper stakes clog easily when using salt-based ferts and it's not always easy to see when they are clogged, potentially destroying the grow. No chance of that happening with it pissing straight out the pipes like this. I did think it would not wet the coco evenly enough but it works very well due to capillary action, as long as the surface doesn't dry out too much.

Run-off is sufficient now, or maybe a bit too much.

What`s your plan here with training Sy, sort of are you gonna train till screen is full to max or just train those 2 till others have caught up ? Coming along nice though mate.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
Well, that is a good question mate and one I've been pondering but I reckon I'll wait for the smaller ones to catch up and train the taller ones with lots of bending and twisting, but then again, I'm keen to flip to 12/12 this weekend, depending if there's enough sites to take cuttings, so will see how it goes. They may need another week in veg but I'm almost out of weed - it's a dilemma.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
Weekly update time!
The light was dimmed right down to 25% until a couple of days ago to 50% and still at a distance of 24" from the canopy. Feed automation working well and plants are happy on one feed per day at EC 1.5, pH 6.0 without any added cal-mag. I hoped to flip this weekend but need to take cuttings of Unicorn Pop Drops and Triangle Mints, and there's not enough sites to take cuts from yet so probably another week in veg.
I planted more seeds today, thinking I can hit the ground running immediately after harvest rather than waiting for the cuttings I usually take before flip to be ready, so there'll be less downtime between crops. I'll still take cuttings of most things in case there's keepers but will keep them as mothers rather than putting them straight into the next run. The seeds I planted are:
AJ's Sour Diesel x Key Lime Pie (Purple City genetics) - I grew this before in soil and it was very tasty with great effects but yields were poor so hoping in coco it will be bigger.
Stardawg (Flavour Chasers) - never grown before but always loved Stardawg when I had it, but it was never grown or cured that well - hoping I can improve on that. Not sure if this breeder's version will be anything like the original Top Dawg one, or even if it's the Top Dawg one I've vaped.
Wedding Cake x Gushers x F1 Durb (Purple City genetics) - never grown before but I love Wedding Cake and PCG strains have never failed to satisfy with regards to effects and flavour, so could be good.
Zai Zai (Perfect Tree) - don't know much about this breeder but they appear to be using quality genetics from Cannarado, Seed Junky, Dying Breed, etc. I really love OZK and wanted to grow it but the original is impossible for me to find and probably way too expensive, so their cross of that with Jet-A seems promising. They have some other interesting strains crossed with Peach Ozz, Z Cube and another favourite of mine, 33 Splitter.
I may do another diary for those at some point.

Triangle Mints is a slow grower - a slight fade on new growth, maybe due to increased light power or needs more food.

Zkitzo gone Zkitzo, with blotchy markings and curly leaves, or maybe with it having Zkittlez genetics it might not like intense light but I reckon it's either mutation or looks like Tobacco Mosaic Virus.

Unicorn Pop Drops looking fine

Orinoco - nowhere near as tasty as the pheno I had before so the hunt is still on. Looking slightly pale on some leaves, again, maybe due to increased light power or needs more food.

Re: Sy Goes Coco Loco with Orinoco, Zkitzos, Triangles & Unicorns
Three cuttings each from Triangle Mints and Unicorn Pop Drops. I'm dropping the other two strains because Orinoco isn't the pheno I wanted and Zkitzo is a shit looking plant. If the Zkitzo turns out to be a good smoke I'll try another seed sometime. The lights in the main tent were flipped to 12/12 today.
