Seedstockers Bonsai Grow Off 2023

Seed sprouted and transferred to growing container. I figure as small as this container is I'd just start it in there. Made a humidity dome to help things along. I put a single layer of expanded clay pellets in the bottom, then filled that in with perlite. The soil is Happy Frog. Fingers crossed.

Rules

Pot Size should not exceed 2 liters. This is larger than many bonsai grows but the length of time some of these plants will be alive will mean 2 liters will help with the heavy training needed.
This competition will run for 6 months, ending in June. The growers using autoflower seeds will obviously finish sooner.
To qualify for the end vote a member will need at least 10 weekly updates in this topic.
This is a bonsai grow off, so we are not looking for the biggest plant, we are after a true bonsai style plant.

Rules may be tweaked as we go.

Here we go.

Week 1

One week since putting the sprouted seed in soil. Popped up the next morning. I've been using a spray bottle to keep moist. The seedling reached top of my “okie” humidity dome so I 86'ed it.

The soil has compacted a little so I topped up the container with Happy Frog. Gave the plant a weak nutrient solution (.4 EC) today. I just diluted some nutrient mix from my regular grow. The container seems to be draining well. I put a 5-gallon bucket in the tent, upside down, and put my bonsai container on it to get it off the floor.

Anyway, so far looking okay.

Ive taken my normal method of over watering and probably killed atleast 2 of the seedling
