So guys , been in my flowering tent this evening to try figure out what lights to hang up for best light spread and most efficient with leccy prices
I have 2 x 350w quantum led panels which I think of hung side by side should give loads of light spread BUT …… I am running 6” fan and filter which is strapped to the top bars , like ya do . Which is stopping the lights hanging nicely where I would want them ,
Question is white running led panels and there’s not masses of heat rising. Could I stand the filter on the floor in the corner and have the passive inlet at the top at opposite side of the tent ?
This would allow me to place the 2 panels equally with the fan and filter and ducting out the way
Simple answer is: rule of thumb is 50cm from the canopy unless the manufacturer suggests something else. You have to treat LEDs different to HPS due to having lots of little light sources as well as horticultural LEDs have a relatively narrow beam angle (around 120deg).

Accurate answer is: You can't be sure unless you have a PPFD meter. You can pick them up for about £200 and it will allow you to fine tune things to match the parameters of your room. I just bought one asy leccy bill hurt more than a swift kick in the nuts this months
Cheers man, but been growing with Leds for ten years , the question was more can I stand the filter on the floor and duct vertical
Not the panel position ,

Paul

I'm sure @Bulls does it this way mate.
Only thing I'd be thinking, as the stomata on leaves breath the oxygen goes up and gets pumped out from top usually. Co2 is usually found further up anyway isn't it...? Bit like when its hard to breath climbing a mountain ⛰️ :idn:

Makes me think this would be a better way... 🤔
I usually hang one of them co2 producing bags above the plants anyway so maybe filter at the bottom would help drag co2 through the plants rather than straight into the filter at the top of the tent ?

Ahh sorry I misunderstood. Of course you can if you don't mind the loss of floor space. Optimal would be hang it as hot air rises but placing the filter on the floor works fine. I had a similar issue and solved it by using an inline filter.

I could say whether it would make a difference. Ask about see what people say.

Floor space isn’t much of an issue as I have a big tent and only do 4 plants max usually only 2
And using Leds hot air isn’t really an issue either , yeah but of heat but the filter pulling heat through the plants would be a be if it if anything

You wouldn't notice much change in temps TBH. It depends on how much air you're pulling but even a small 100mm inline fan with a carbon filter and a few bends in the duct should be pulling ~100m3/h so will empty a tent in less than a minute. You can also push through a carbon filter so you could place the filter outside but it is less efficient.

I think I’m going to go for filter stops on floor and drawing in drop opposite side at top,
It’s a 6” fan and filter so it pulls hard and fast lol

Sounds good. A 6" fan will empty a bedroom sized room in seconds so it won't make much difference where you place it. It's a real pain with LEDs. They take up too much space lol

My filter has been sat on the floor for ages and haven't had any issues.
